I just received a comment on one of my YouTube tripawd videos from The Big Dog who is undertaking an incredible journey with his two beautiful boys Murphy and Hudson. I was so touched, I just have to share it with everyone.
In January 2008, these three will embark on a 2,000 mile, 6 month walk from Austin, Texas to Boston, Massachusetts to raise money for cancer research for companion pets. Read on to view the trailer and tell everyone you know about 2 Dogs 2000 miles.
Big Dog lost his best friend Malcolm to osteosarcoma that metasticized after living more than a year and a half as a tripawd. He made a promise to Malcolm before he passed that he would do his part to help rid the world of one of its most dreadful and indiscriminating diseases. 2 Dogs 2,000 Miles is his first step. One of about 4,000,000 that is. Alongside his two dogs – Murphy (Malcolm’s 6-year old brother) and Hudson (a new 8-month old Pyrenees) – he will walk from Austin, Texas to Boston, Massachusetts to raise money for cancer research for companion pets.
I applaud BigDog for this effort and hope everyone will do what they can to help support his journey. Sponsorship opportunities are available for the walk and he has even set up a new discussion forum for dog lovers to interact with supporters and share stories. I figured the least I could do would be to help spread the word about 2 Dogs 2000 Miles here on my site, so be sure to tell a friend!
Murphy and Hudson are two lucky dogs to have a person that cares so much, and to be able to go on such a long walk! I’m glad Big Dog contacted my people because we kind of have a lot in common. They too used to be in the tech industry and are now taking me on a cross country trip to help spread awareness about canine cancer and how life on three legs ain’t so bad. Who knows… come January we may even be near Texas on the westward leg of our journey. If so, I sure hope our paths cross so we can all meet.
Thank you for what you are doing- How can I help to sponser you? I dont have a lot but I want to contribute something in memory of Woof the Great Pyrenees who lost the battle to Osteosarcoma.
Rest in peace Woofie Jan 10 1998 – Jan 15 2008
