I'm a little late...but my support and best wishes are with you now,and throught thiswhole crazy journey!

The is just adorable!Adorable AND sooooo very handsome! I love his "blissfully unaware" picture!!! Ifony we humans could maintai that state!
When you pick him up, don't even look at his incisio site. Just look into his drug jazed eyes and kiss him andhug hi and tell him what a go o d boy he is!! APPLAUSE!!!

The next week or so can be a pretty tough ride with lots of sleepless nights. But when you see Theodire's sparkle start to come back and he is free from pain, you will know all of this is worth it!
We are here for you, okay? Let us know how we can best suport you!

Sending lots of hugs!

Good morning Theodore's Mom

What a wonderful expression on his face on his way to surgery - he is not worried - and now Theodore has already begun his journey on three legs.

As many have already said, the first two weeks can be rough - Theodore has to adjust to his new reality and he will be on medications that may make his a bit "woozy" (but are very necessary for his recovery) - but he will be free of the pain from that nasty leg and will soon regain every bit of spunk that you have grown to love :)

Many hugs

Linda and Tucker

Good morning and welcome.  I am glad the surgery was a success.  Now to focus on the healing part.  He is a beautiful dog.

We also dealt with Osteoscaroma.  We chose to do chemo but it is totally a personal decision.  One of the reasons why I chose to do it was I wanted to give Sassy the best chance of surviving this stupid awful disease.  We completed 4 chemo treatments.  Some where between 4 & the 5th one she developed lung mets.  We had that diagnosis 3 days before our final chemo appointment.  But lung mets are not the end Sassy survived 7 3/4 months with mets.

Hope Theodore continues on his healing process if you have any questions don't hesitate to ask.  The main thing is try to not let him over do things while recovering that can set you back a little if he does on the recovery.

hugs

So glad to hear surgery went well. You won't even begin to understand how happy you will be to see him and he you. Enjoy that moment and remember his face in the car going to surgery, he may be a bit more woozy from the drugs but the point is he will be living in the moment, he won't be asking what happened to me or why it happened, he'll just know that he has his family around him and saying "boy am i getting lots of love and attention"  and that will be all he cares about. As everyone here said the first two weeks are a bit of a roller coaster ride, but stay strong and positive for Theodore he'll need you to be, and you'll see day by day things will get better but make sure he gets plenty of rest and don't freak out if he doesn't eat all that well (that was the part that got me) remember he's going to have a bunch of drugs and in particular antibiotics in his system and the antibiotics can make their stomach feel upset. So whatever you have to do to get something in him, whether hand feeding food, or treats or whatever it doesn't matter even just a little is better then nothing at all. But if he doesn't want it don't panic when he's ready he'll eat. I literally just went through all this (and still am and things are progressing so well) Ava is 20 days post surgery so this is all still pretty fresh in my mind...lol...anyway Theodore and you will get through this and the great part is look at all the support that you have from the people here...it's truly amazing isn't it? It helped me in so many ways, and I hope in some small way I can give back 1/10 of the support i recieved here to you.

Thinking about you and theodore and sending you all the positive energies we have.

Steven, Ava and the entire pack.

Snagglemom,

Welcome to the best support in the world. Sorry you and Theo are here but....it is an amazing resource. Somebody suggested looking at the incision- post -op pics.  It is a wonderful idea, and if you have kids show them.  It can be a little shocking but remember, when you see Theo for the 1st time, look in to his eyes don't acknowledge the amp site.  He is a beauty.  As I think Steven said, don't freak out about eating, ice cubes, carrots, treats and being served fresh water worked for us.  The first couple weeks are RUFF, but please post your questions, concerns.

Thinking of You

Laurie

Thank you everyone for your support so far. I cannot express how helpful it has been so far for Rachel and I to see that we are not alone in this unpleasant journey we are now going through.  I took today/tomorrow off to be at home with the pup and he is resting relatively comfortably. We even took him out this morning and he took a few steps before being winded and wanting to rest. He isnt eating yet, but i think that has to do with him still being loopy and sleepy.

thank you all again.  A pic of our little boy
