October 15, 2000 to April 8, 2014
Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife
Please give Manni some hugs from me, even if he doesn't like them. So glad you've had some good, quality time. Hope for many more!!!

Momma to the world's most beautiful American Bulldog, Izzy!! Lost her front leg to OSA 9/18/15. Diagnosed w MCT in June 2016. Celebrated her 1 year ampuversary with knee surgery on 9/18/16! MCT recurrence in Dec 2016. Happy & hungry til nearly 14, earning her wings on 7/31/17.
Glad to hear the positive update. Enjoy every day. If we have to count days, count the good ones filled with memories!

i have felt so many different emotions reading through this forum! I am sooooo sorry for missing what is happening in your life! Buddy, you are one amazing WONDER DOG!!! I so hope that you and Mum are doing okay?! I honestly can’t get over how quickly this has all happened! You have proven to everyone once again that today and everyday, is a present 🎁 and tomorrow is the unknown gift! 🎁
Tina, you had me bawling when you said “And as I said to Stewie and family the other day: if we make it to Manni's 11th birthday the plane tickets for everyone are on me. .. 🙂”... I truly hope to be buying myself a ✈️ ticket for Manni’s 11th Birthday! I want to wrap my arms around you Tina and give you a massive hug, I totally understand the void that you are living in right now, the feeling of heaviness over your home... when you said that you were in a bubble, it sure felt like that to me too (when I lost another of my soulmates, Mojo to cancer 4yrs ago.) but it was important to me at that time to be focused 100% on my boy as I knew that time with him was so precious. It is so very kind of you to keep all of us here updated on your journey with Manni. We are all very concerned for you both!
Manni, you are one incredible and extremely handsome boy, you are being so strong for your Mum! Love your pictures! You are certainly giving Mum some incredibly beautiful memories to hold close to her heart ❤️! In the little time I have come to know you, I have learned that anything is and continues to be possible! You have an incredibly strong Mum and it’s no wonder that you have battled through like a true champion!

I don't even know where to start because I feel so bad that I haven't been around lately. I just don't seem to find it in me to help others at this point in time but (insert Austrian accent here:) I'LL BE BACK!!
Here goes:
We're still here! Manni, that is. Where would I go?
This is nothing short of a miracle. We got the tumor diagnosis in early July and had the CT scan in August. While the vet didn't dare give a prognosis it felt that he was trying to convey that we would have days, possibly a few weeks.
We've had ups and downs, good days and bad ones, and we still do. I've been trying different forms of pain medication (Metamizol) but I am back to administering injections twice a day, pills at lunchtime and morphine (Buprenovet) at night. Amazingly we're still on the same dose that we were in August and while I'm fairly certain (as much as you can be with the Tough Dog That Doesn't Show Pain (little bastard...) ) that he is in some pain (he must be! it's osteo, after all), we still have somewhat of a handle on it since Manni still goes for walks (short ones), is motivated during physio therapy, eats, ....
It's a weird stage we're at: I have mentally tried (unsuccessfully) to say goodbye for weeks, oh months! now and yet here we are, still making the most of every day. And yes Holly: I finally managed to stop putting a time stamp on Manni's butt! 🙂
Isn't it funny how long one takes to reach some acceptance? (Mind you, I'm saying that now. Won't change the devastation to come)
I have had so much support from you lovely people. In these forums, in my blog (oh wait, I think there might be one to come...), and even at my house (love you Teresa!!), through packages from Green Bay, video chats, you name it!
I am not sure why Manni is still around but I know that I have been able to hang on this long because of all of you.

Well said abput "acceptance". You are an excellent example of how to move forward without staying stuck in the "diagnosis". You've mastered the art of greeting the gift of each day with a "hello world" and a wagging tail just like Manni! 🙂 🙂 🙂 To accept where you and Manni are in this journey without wasting anymore time feeling like each day is a "good-bye" day shows the power of the love in your heart for that tough guy! 🙂 It's so easy to fall into the trap that piece of s**t disease tries to set for us so we will stay stuck focusing on the transition rather than embracing the gift of each day and living it to the fullest!!! HA!!! YOU AND MANNI AREN'T FALLING INTO THAT TRAP! 🙂 🙂
No, acceptance won't take away the devase at all whenever that time comes. But it sure as hell puts grief on the back burner so you can LIVE EACH DAY FULLY WITH MANNI!!! And, again, Manni woukd expect nothing less!
And these pictures, these SPECTACULAR pictures, certainly show a very happy dog enjoying the bliss of living effortlessly from one beautiful moment to the next.:-) Manni is still "here" because inly Manni know's when his Soul's purpose has completed its eartly mission. Clearly he still has more purpose and more to teach 🙂

Stewie and I are sending massive hugs to the both of you! You are both so strong and Sally has said everything that I would also love to say! There’s no time like THE PRESENT! Manni is a gift that you will be forever grateful for!
None of us now our mission on earth, but I do know that like all of our Tripawd Hero’s, Manni is teaching us about compassion beyond words and about endurance that we never knew we had! He has already said F¥€£ You! To STATISTICS!!! Over and over again this beautiful man of yours is saying “I’m here Mum, I will love you to the ends of this earth” and he is making sure his imprint is HUGE on your heart before he has to say goodbye! But obviously it’s not that time and he is by your side, as he always will be!
You are being so strong for your boy! Manni is still around because of the strength of your love for each other! That’s why you have managed through all of this, all of us at Tripawds are the shoulders that you can lean on, but it’s you that has kept your head above water and lived in the moment with your boy for the last two years! Stewie and I can only hope to follow in your footsteps! And I hope you understand what I mean when I say that!
May there be a million more moons that shine down on you and Manni! You will remain in my thoughts sweetheart!

What we do know is to be sooooo greatful for each day. We all hate cancer disease, aging, but we appreciate more, love more, savour more and then yes we will grieve even more but that time is not now! Yaaay for taking the time stamp off!
Tina I get it, you try to prepare yourself, there is no such preparation. Its' going to hurt like hell! But as Manni is showing you he is not going anywhere he is enjoying life.
Maybe its the CBD maybe it’s all the love, maybe we are not meant to know he is a miracle , whatever it is keep it up Manni. You put a smile in my heart and you give everyone hope!

I have no words of wisdom as I never do but know that I think of you two each day ... truly. How can I not as I see your faces each day when I make breakfast on my fridge! And I smile. Because having you both in my life and meeting you - Tina - was definitely among the highlights of 2017!

Your post reminds me of a song in which it speaks of "a time for all seasons". You have been brilliant in learning to live and love in the "season" you are in. May you and that beautiful boy that we all fell in love with along with his Mom have many more days in this "season"! Love you guys ❤️❤️

When we saw your generous donation come in today (THANK YOU!), as Purrkins said, you know how the mind works....and then we read the update, breathed a sigh of relief and CHEERED for you two! Why is Manni here? Hmm. Strength of spirit. The daily enrichment. The great vet care. And of course, destiny. It's Manni's destiny to be here this long to show us all that there IS hope even after the vet tries to prepare you for the worst. There IS hope when cancer happens. It's his destiny to show this to us here at Tripawds, and you, so that we may pass along this message to others as they confront the unknown after a diagnosis.

The same ride we took with Nitro, only yours is much prolonged. But YAY! He's still Manni, and still with you. 3 months ago today we said good bye to him....give your boy a hug from us - I know, he doesn't like that stuff - but do it anyway, from Auntie Paula.
Nitro 11 1/2 yr old Doberman; right front amp June 2014. Had 6 doses carboplatin, followed by metronomic therapy. Rocked it on 3 legs for over 3 years! My Warrior beat cancer, but couldn't beat old age. He crossed the Bridge peacefully on July 25, 2017, with dignity and on his terms. Follow his blog entitled "Doberman's journey"

Eurydice 77kg/170lb Great Dane limping end of April 2016, amputation (right front leg/osteosarcoma) 4 May 2016 6 courses of carboplatin followed by metronomic therapy, lung mets found 30 Nov 2016. 3 courses of doxorubicin, PET scan 26 Jan 2017 showed more mets so stopped chemo. Holistic route April 2017. Lung X-ray 5 May 2017 showed several tennis ball size mets, started cortisone and diuretics. Miss Cow earned her XXL silver wings 12 June 2017, 13 months and 1 week after amputation and 6 1/2 months after lung mets, she was the goofiest dawg ever and is now happily flying from cloud to cloud woof woofing away :-)
