Just checking in on you and your Roayal Eddyness!

Know that we are all holding you in o ur thoughts!

I KNOW you and Eddy are making everyday blissfully magical and savoring the joy and love!

When my beloved Happy Hannah had a blankety bland huge met develop, a wonderful soul here reminded me that "She is with me today and will be with me tomorrow...and you need not project beyond that." I'm not quoting exactly right, but anyway, I found it comforting and just another way to remind myself to stay in the present while we are together. Eddy still has a lot of lessons to teach you so he's not going anywhere anytime soon!

Update when you can. And keep taking pictures and videos of that magnificent sweet boy! Another thing to pass on, and this is for everyone on this journey, be sure and take pictures of his "everyday habits...his Eddyness".......maybe just giving you his law to shake...or gretting you at the door...or laying under the Birch tree.....

Sending you lots of suplortive hugs.....stay connected.....we are here for you.....and understand.....

Sally and Alumni Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle too!

Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!

Thank you so much, Sally.  I appreciate your kind words.  We are just doing that...living every day!  Eddy had a horrible bout of colitis last week and has rebounded!  YAY!  He is scheduled to go back Friday for blood work and a 2nd dose of doxorubicin.  I am still undecided as to whether to proceed further...   I want to do everything within my power to help Eddy, but I do not want him to be sick the rest of his days.  I may see if we can put the 2nd treatment off for another week so he can fully recover.  It's so hard being an advocate for a pet who cannot voice their desires!

But, Eddy had a GREAT day yesterday!  He went to the groomer and had a nice bath and trim.  He looks like a million bucks!  Every day I have with him is a bonus!

Soooooooo glad Eddy is feeling better! Made my day!!!clap

It IS hard being an advocate f or t he voiceless....so very, very hard. We've all said this so many different eays, but any decision made out of love up is the right decision.

In a calm centered state...perhaps out by the Birch tree with the chick-a-dees singing their beautiful songs...you can "communicate" with Eddy as see what he wants. You know Eddy better than anyone.

Sometimes, from an Oncologist's point of view, an "improvement" as far as shrinking the tumor, etc. Is what it's all about and they can kind of gloss over the side effects. Sometimes from a dog's perspective, the "improvement" may not be worth going through the side effects...and sometimes it is! I use this phrase soooo often, but everything on this journey is such a crap shoot!

To ask the vet about a week's delay and/or a lower dose certainly seems spot on to me! Also, perhaps the vet has some "preventative" meds or things he can give to help offset the side effects.

Yiu ARE doing everything possible to ensure Eddy's quality! You ARE a wonderful advocate for your boy!!

YAHOO FOR A WHOLE LOT MORE OF EDDYNESS!!!

Sending lots of love and hugs! Lots of them!!

Thank you, Sally!  Ugh!  It's such a tough dilemma....  The vet would like to keep doing the doxorubicin every two weeks.  The plan was to give it to him Friday and then two weeks after, which would be Dec. 12th. Before the administration on the 12th, they would do another set of chest films.  If there has been no improvement, we would discuss other options at that point.  At our last appointment, I had a "heart to heart" with Eddy's vet tech.  I asked her what his lifespan is now that he has confirmed lung mets.  She said even with treatment, the average length of time is about two months.  Again, ughhhh!  If that is indeed the case, do I really want to put him through anymore treatment????  I wish I had a magic ball!

Betsy Golden and Angel, Eddy.  Eddy was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma 7-23-14, had a left rear amputation 8-07-14, had 3 rounds of carboplatin chemotherapy,  a small lung met was discovered in October, had 2 rounds of doxorubicin, and unfortunately more lung mets were discovered.  Eddy fought cancer valiantly and went to the Rainbow Bridge 1-6-15, at the age of 7 years and 359 days, just six days short of his 8th birthday.   Best Dog, Ever....you will never be forgotten.

Yeah...UGH!! Just to repeat though...no dog has a time frame stamped on his butt...every dog is different....also, I think that would be a good question for the Oncologist since the doxo. has stopped the growth. And whatever his response....it's just a "guideline" anyway.

Now, onto more important things...EDDYNESS!!! It sounds like he's feeling pretty darn good right now, right? Eating, drinking, wagging tail, fully engaged, living life to the fullest! Any noticeable heavy lethargy? Any excessive panting, rapid breathing? Sometimes...not all the time...those "symptons@ can indicate going downhill just a bit. Now keep in mind, rolling aro h nd o n the sofa and gett j ng more tum m y rubs...just being a great couch potato isnt a "painful" th i ng and not bad quality.

I guess some of the questions for the Onco IF you proceed....what measures can he put in place, if any, to prevent the bad reaction like last time? What success stories can he share where the doxo. made a big difference?
If I recall, Eddy is on a "trial drug" but they won't disclose what it is...is that right or am I confusing Eddy with someone else? Anyway, does he know if there are any studies showing the daily pills are effective without continuing the doxo?

One more thought. IF you decide NOT to pursue another doxo. treatment, or just one more, you can still pursue alternative holistic treatments. Geez I REALLY wish we all had a crystal ball. Everyone here is committed to QUALITY, and to HOPE...and sometimes the lines are blurred....to go 100% with quality and eliminate any further injection chemo is not exclusive of hope though.

Again, just try andget in that still calm place and see if any answer comes to you...an answer that feels intuitive...one that feels guided...one that feels connected to Eddy.

Now, go over to Eddy and do something right now.....RIGHT NOW.....that makes his tail wag!!! And just know that all is well in Eddy's world!!!!!

Sending so much love and a wish for clarity and inner peace........

Sorry I haven't commented now.  I am sorry to hear about Eddy's mets.  That last statement got to me.  My Sassy beat odds with lung mets.  She had them almost 8 months when she passed.  DO NOT let anyone try to tell you a time stamp.  No one has one least of all Eddy.  He will tell you when its time.  All they can do is give estimates.

Keep fighting Eddy we are pulling for you

Hugs

Thank you, Michelle.  You literally made my day!!!  And, you, too, Sally!   Eddy is doing really well!  He is not having any symptoms at all, except he seems a little tired at times, which is probably from the chemo.  We have taken him off the study drug for now.  His doctor wanted us to stop the study drug until our next appointment which is Friday.  Today, he celebrates 127 days since his diagnosis, and I am grateful for every single one.  When he was first diagnosed on July 23rd, the vet told us, without treatment, he had about 2 months.  So, we have doubled that time frame!!!!  Eddy's 8th birthday is January 17th and I pray he lives to celebrate another year!  Thank you, ALL!!!!
