Amputation Costs
- What city/state/country/date did your Tripawd have the amputation? Philadelphia, PA – February 22, 2009
- Total cost of surgery? $3,195.60 (This did not include our initial consult, chest x-ray, CBC, chem screen & exam - $514,00)
- Private practice or teaching hospital? Teaching Hospital – Matthew J. Ryan Veterinary Hospital/University of Pennsylvania
Chemotherapy Costs
- What size is your dog? Maddie was 118lbs.
- Type of chemo given? 3 doses of Carboplatin & 3 doses of Doxorubicin
- # of sessions? 6 sessions
- Total cost of treatments? $2,073.85 (This fee included 3 sedations and anti-nausea medication) Maddie also required CBC's on the weeks she did not have chemotherapy at a cost of $47.52 for approximately 8 x's. Chest X-rays upon completion of chemotherapy and every 3 months thereafter – $317.50/per visit.

For my pug Maggie:
Amputation Costs
- What city/state/country/date did your Tripawd have the amputation? Bay Area Veterinary Specialist (BAVS), San Leandro, CA. Amp date 9/7/06.
- Total cost of surgery? Preliminary tests (to check for spread) $1600, For the amp and hospital stay $2850
- Private practice or teaching hospital? Private practice
Chemotherapy Costs
- What size is your dog? pre surgery 18 lbs, post 17 lbs, now 16.5 lbs.
- Type of chemo given? CCNU (lomustine) and Vinblastine, alternating treatments 2 weeks apart
- # of sessions? 12 total sessions (6 of each chemo), about 6.5 months of treatment
- Total cost of treatments? $2700 including blood work and day at hospital for each treatment. She was also on prednisolone, benadryl and pepcid for most of the treatment time, maybe another $400.

Koda's medical bills in Australian Dollars
Amputation Costs
- What city/state/country/date did your Tripawd have the amputation? Queensland, Australia with breeders vet at The Range Veterinary Surgery
- Total cost of surgery? $1000 (inc overnight stay and meds) $200 for test to confirm oesteosarcoma after amputation
- Private practice or teaching hospital? Private practice
Diagnosis Cost: $230 initial Xrays with normal vet, then $600 for consult and biopsy and blood work with Oncologist, Dr Maurine Thomson at Queensland Veterinary Specialists, then we proceeded with Amputation

Post Op Cost: Seroma issues, ER visit for liver and spleen mass ($1400 alone), ongoing meds/xrays/ultrasounds/bloodwork dealing with postop tumors and mets (another $2000+).
