Tripawd Discussion Forum profile avatars are now integrated with Tripawds Blog user avatars!
The good news is that this means profile avatars are now much easier to upload, and that only one avatar need be uploaded to indtify users here in the forums, on their blogs, and throughout the website in post and comment feeds.
The bad news is that users with existing forum profile avatars must upload a new one.
But the really good news is that updating your user avatar is really simple:
- Make sure you are logged in to Tripawds and visit your Dashboard.
- Click on the Users tab.
- Click the Your Avatar sub-tab.
- Notice your default avatar and click the "Choose File" button to select an image file from your local hard drive.
- Click the "Upload" button.
- Use the interactive crop tool by dragging its corners to select the image area for your avatar.
- Click the "Crop Image" button.
- Your new avatar will now appear wherever you make comments throughout the tripawds community!
Or, if you are currently logged in, just visit your Dashboard -> Users -> Your Avatar tab and follow the onscreen instructions. For a shortcut to your Profile page, Click on your name at top right of your Tripawds dashboard.
NOTE: There is no longer any need to resize or crop avatar images prior to upload. But the smaller the file size, the less upload space you will use.
We sincerely apologize to current members for the inconvenience, but going forward this a good thing for our gowing Tripawds community. Thank you for your continued support and understanding.
If you have any questions, please ask them with a reply to this topic so we can share the answers with everyone.

A point of clarification here regarding your "Dashboard" …
You now add avatars in your site dashboard, not your discussion forum profile.
Hopefully this will make the process more clear…
Log in to your Tripawds account here:
http://tripawds.com/wp-login.php
Or, if you are already logged in, visit your dashboard directly at http://tripawds.com/wp-admin/
On the left side of your dashboard, you should see the Profile tab. If it is not already expanded, click it and you will see the sub tab for "Your Avatar".
Click that and you will be taken to your user avatar upload page. Not the default avatar being used and simply follow the onscreen prompts or refer to the detailed instructions above. Or, watch this informative video explaining WordPress blog user profile management.
We really hated to make current users upload new avatars, but it was the only way to make it so all new users only have to upload one avatar instead of three … for their blog, sitewide comments, and forums.
FYI: The new site dashboard gives users complete control over their Tripawds blog should they (you) choose to create one. We will be formally announcing all this very soon. Stay tuned. In the meantime, here are complete details about the new and improved multi-user Tripawds blog community. Additional help can be found in our various tutorial videos.
Thank you all very much for your continued supoort. We look forward to seeing your avatars all around the site. Like at top right, where the most recent three Tripawds blog posts will always be featured!

My pictures will upload fine, but only other people can see them. When I look at my profile and posts it is still the old picture. I've tried logging out and back on several times but still no go.

You may just need to clear your browser cache to view the changes. If you see the correct image on your avatar upload page, your browser is just displaying the cached version when forum pages refresh. Right now, I'm seeing a picture of Mac hanging out by the river for your avatar. The same one I see on your User Avatar admin page.
Depending on what browser you use, instructions for clearing your browser cache may differ.

Ah…I had cleared my browing history earlier but one box (add-on data) wasn't checked. I checked it and deleted the rest and it's fixed

Thanks for tip, it may help others. As a point of clarification, it is the cache that must be cleared – not browsing/download history – to refresh new images uploaded with the same name, which avatars are.

Isn't there somewhere to upload just a 'blog avatar' that sits on your blog page? I did that for CR and now I cant figure out how to do it for Travis. Also, is there any way to have a different 'user avatar' for TR? I suppose not since I created his blog?
tx,
M

Yes: Dashboard -> Settings -> Blog Avatar

Yes, But: This requires you to create a separate user account for Travis Ray, however, with a different email address. You can do so from Dashboard -> Users -> Add New then check that email to click the confirmation link. Do this from the TR blog dashboard and he will automatically become a user of that blog. Set his role to Admin when adding him as a user and he will have all capabilities for managing the blog.

Just testing the quote button…… never mind that……………………..
Thanks for your reply Jim! Got the blog avatar up but it is way blurry, I am saving it at 0.5 inch X 0.5 inch. What resolution does it need to be—I think it was at 180ppi so its kind of strange it is blurry? I will never get this stuff down!

You can use larger files with the new avatar upload and crop them online. The largest Tripawds avatars will display is at 128×128 at 72 dpi. Half an inch @ 180 dpi is 90 pixels. Thus ends your math lesson for the day. Whenever you enlarge an uploaded image, it will get blurry. If you shoot for a file of at least 200×200 at 72 dpi, you should have no worries. Unles of course you crop it really tight once uploaded, then it will enlarge when displayed at bigger sizes like Blog Avatars. Hope this makes sense.
