I never thought I would be typing this. We were told 10 months if we were lucky with Nixon as his pathology report didn't look so good and the cancer was so fast growing. This was with chemo. Nixon is now 25 months post amp. Sadly, no celebration today because we're dealing with Tropical Storm/Depression Ana so he's been popping Xanax all day just in case we had thunder storms. I don't think his diva self would appreciate pictures of him under the influence being posted. 😉 I swear the poor boy can taste colors when we have him on this stuff. But he's mostly happy on it. I don't know how it does any good, he's on a dose that is like 0.1 mg/kg but we're grateful for his little blue pills.

He's napping again and my husband has put on Disney's Brave for Cookie. It is one of her favorite movies and we have to watch something with bears in it whenever Cookie is stuck inside for too long.

It has been a wild ride! Nothing seems to be typical with anything that crosses Nix's path and that's ok. We've made some amazing friends through this. I may not be able to be on here as often as I would like but I am so grateful for all the love and support we have had the past 24 months. I am a natural worrier. I worry about how much I worry. If I didn't have all of you, I am not sure how I would have handled this. I'd probably be on Xanax WITH Nixon at this point. Learning to Be More Dog and live in the now has been tough but it is a wonderful way to live life, even if we're not perfect at it.

Happy Twenty-Fifth! Ampuversay Nixon!

That is such a great milestone for Nix and you both! Congratulations.

And Ellie completely agrees w/ Nix about T-storms. It doesn't matter if they're overhead or 25 miles away, she knows it. We joke about our very own "weather radog".

Active 10+ Pyr mix suddenly came up lame with ACL tear in left rear leg. Scheduled for a TPLO but final pre-op x-rays indicated a small suspicious area, possibly OSA, which could have caused the ACL tear. Surgeon opened the knee for TPLO but found soft bone. Biopsy came back positive for OSA. Became a Tripawd 9/18/14. Carbo6 with Cerenia and Fluids. Pain free and living in the moment. Crossed the Bridge on 7/12/15 after probable spread of cancer to her cervical spine. A whole lifetime of memories squeezed into 10 months. Here's her story: Eloise

That's a great milestone!!! Congrats!

Shelby Lynne; Jack Russell/Shiba Inu mix. Proud member of the April Angels of 2014.

October 15, 2000 to April 8, 2014

Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife

Yay Nixon!!!!! We were just down in NC! We had no internet so I am very far behind. We left Sat. Before the storm hit. Not purposely, but that is when we had to get back. I am chuckling here at the vision of Cookie watching Brave and Nixon popping his little blue pills. 25 months, what a milestone! Nixon you keep on kicking cancer's ugly butt, you hear? Lori, Ty & the Gang

TY GUY, Best Black Lab ever! Diagnosed  and had amp in January, 2014. Kicked MRSA's butt. Earned his angel wings on April 16, 2014. Run Free my boy and don't forget a shoe. Ty is a proud member of the " April Angels". Ty sent us Daryl, a Tripawd rescue in Sept. of 2016. Daryl is 5 +or -. We are also Pawrents to Chandler, a Border Collie mix who is 15 and 1/2, Lucy, a Corgi who is 7, 2 minis, 2 horses, and a feisty cat named Zoe. Zoe had a non skeletal Osteosarcoma removed in July 2015. No Chemo, she was at least 16. She is going strong although she is now completely blind. She is now close to 20 and her hobbies are eating and sleeping in front of her personal heater.
