Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife
Kent....just reading Darla's story now, so sorry for your loss. I fear there is nothing to be said right now that will ease you pain, only with time will it get better. Everyone's words so far have been spot on, but the biggest truth out there, in my opinion is this: while you are totally beating yourself up about putting Darla through the amp and all that followed, if you had done nothing, you would have forever been obsessing over "what if".... If you hadn't tried to fight, if you hadn't had the amp, you would always second guess yourself. You tried, you fought, you loved - and cancer sucks! Wishing you peace in the days ahead.

Nitro 11 1/2 yr old Doberman; right front amp June 2014. Had 6 doses carboplatin, followed by metronomic therapy. Rocked it on 3 legs for over 3 years! My Warrior beat cancer, but couldn't beat old age. He crossed the Bridge peacefully on July 25, 2017, with dignity and on his terms. Follow his blog entitled "Doberman's journey"
"Be good, mama loves you".....run free my beautiful Warrior
There aren't enough words to express my appreciation to all that reached out to extend their support. I hadn't intended to stay away this long, or to rephrase, to be unable to keep my composure long enough to type a paragraph or two. Every time I tried to express my thanks to everyone here, something turned on the water works. As those of you that have down this insanely difficuly road, it's hard to form a coherent thought, when that's happening.
