We'd love to meet you too! We're actually not too far away from you - we live in Green Bay. We're planning on coming down your way to do the Puppy Up walk in September - in Wheaton. I'm not sure Nitro will make the trip however, he doesn't like other dogs.

Paula and Nitro

yes, Ill be there, hard to say "alone".. but had planned on it.. do we have and exact date for that.. I want to be able to take off work.

Hi,

I'd just like to add that meeting up with Tripawds members ... even if you no longer have your tripawd can be a rewarding and healing process. I had the great fortune to meet Codie Ray's mom and Maggie, Obie and Elly's mom last summer when I was driving through northern ca. It was like we had known each other for YEARS! And then my sidekick and I drove up for the annual gathering and it was like coming home ... best experience. To be surrounded by people who knew, understood, could laugh and grieve ... the best. They never met my tripawd, Shelby, but they welcomed me and the quadpawd w/open paws! 🙂

Shelby Lynne; Jack Russell/Shiba Inu mix. Proud member of the April Angels of 2014.

October 15, 2000 to April 8, 2014

Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife

Just reading your posts Stephanie.  Our journeys so very similar.  We both lost our babies on the same day after beating the first cancer.  Baron was 2 1/2 years out from osteosarcoma.  Such a warrior. I too am wondering, did I do everything I could?  What if.....if only I had.....    The truth is what everyone else here has said.  It was our babies time, April 5th.  And it is simply going to take both of us some time to wrap our heads around that for the void that we are both now feeling. I am a bit lost right now as I know you are too. Lets lean on each other.  Feel free to reach out any time you need to.  By the way, I am in the Chicago northwest suburbs, not far from you. Thinking of you and wishing you peace.

We are right on the border of Barrington and Hoffman Estates, right off of 90 and 59. On a day like this I would have done a fantastic hike with Baron by now.  We would both be pooped!  Missing him terribly as I know you are as well.

oh yeah, I hear you, its like sunny weather is suppose to make you smile and go out, but right now sunny weather brings me heart wrenching pain, like real pain. I have been numb now, but my heart palpates, Im sure from the alone feeling, she was my last home furbaby, so i have that added emptiness. I keep trying to push through as I keep thinking of how my girl acted anytimes i was upset, sad or stressed, she was sooo in tune, and she didnt like it, so i keep thinking ....stop being that way, she wouldnt like it, then I cry... viscous cycle.

wow, you are not far from me at all, Im suburbs too; close to aurora, oswego.

Hey everyone.  I just started a Team Tripawds for the Wheaton PuppyUp walk.  Hope no one thinks I am overstepping?  Still working on the page.   It is September 17 from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm.  Puppyupwheaton.kintera.org

Otis - 106 pound lab/Dane mix, lost his right front leg to osteosarcoma on Febuary 9, 2016.  Four rounds of carboplatin completed in April, 2016.  Lung mets August 25, 2016.  Said goodbye too soon on September 4, 2016.   Lost his adopted sister, Tess, suddenly on October 9, 2016. likely due to hemangiosarcoma.

Wherever they are, they are together.

Is there a page for the "team" you've set up? That link is only to the main walk page for Wheaton. Let us know how we can help!

No, Tripawds is not "sponsoring" the walk in any way, though we will gladly support any members putting together a team.

Tripawds is a big fan of Puppy Up! in fact, we were there with Jerry when Luke left on his first 2000 mile walk from Austin to Boston. And we were there with Wyatt at the final mile of his second trek. See all Puppy Up posts here.

Don't forget: Tripawds has it's own team for the upcoming Morris Animal Foundation walk, and we are still trying to reach our goal for that...

thats very cool, you were able to be there when he did that.

when you go to their page, your logo pops up as a sponsor and flashed in the right hand side.

I see a "sponsor" link and a Team link, I thought maybe they were separate.

I was going to start one in nekas name but I maybe Ill just combine and help with the tripawds team.

You can customize your walker page with Neka's name and photos.

waking up in middle of night with pressure on my chest feeling anxious.. did I go from crying uncontrollably to numbness to now just completely loosing it..... very strange and exhausting, its like I wake up in middle of night and run through everypart of her life... like in extreme explicit detail, and its exhausting, not so much oh do you remember xyz, but like idk.. like me judging me in dreams.... so odd... have I completely lost my mind and myself....
