Honestly, I probably jumped back into dog ownership a bit too soon. But, at the same time, it feels like Baxter was always meant to be for me. He's not going anywhere.
I still really miss Rocky. He's my heart dog. And remembering dates is just something I do. But I'm incredibly lucky to have found Baxter as well. He and Rocky are so much alike in many ways, and then so very different in others. I definitely celebrate the differences and want Baxter to be his own dog.

Rocky had his right front leg amputated on Valentine's Day 2017 after being diagnosed with osteosarcoma.
He joined the September Saints on September 3, 2017.
He is the toughest, bravest, sweetest and best friend I'll ever know.

I hope you made a note of that dream David. It DEFINITELY was a way Rocky was connecting!! Some say the way to "get the message" in ojr dreams is ro focus on the "feeling" moreso than the "vehicle".' How did those pennies make you feel? Clearly you knew they were from Rocky. How vojt the car tjey were I ? Any connection ro the car that you felt?
Or maybe itsw Rocky's way if sayi g you and Baxter both just won the lottery by becoming buddies with each other!
Hmmmm....O e more fun thiught. Go clean out your car and see what you find.
We celebrate Rocky with you everyday. He and his gang of September Saints mjst be quite a handful up at the Bridge 🙂

Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!
I've missed something! Do you have a new friend? Baxter? Could you fill me in? As for still doing the math....Christmas Day will be 5 months since Nitro crossed the Bridge. Not sure how I feel about that.
Paula and Warrior Angel Nitro
Nitro 11 1/2 yr old Doberman; right front amp June 2014. Had 6 doses carboplatin, followed by metronomic therapy. Rocked it on 3 legs for over 3 years! My Warrior beat cancer, but couldn't beat old age. He crossed the Bridge peacefully on July 25, 2017, with dignity and on his terms. Follow his blog entitled "Doberman's journey"

I never even thought of I inside the car, good call Sally! I know Rocky was your heart dog, he always will be. It was also wonderful that you found another little guy to rescue! Oh and he is just so beautiful! I'm glad you found each other. Do you know how old he is? From what you said he seems awful smart!! I can't wait to see more pictures!

Paula: Yup, I'm a dog dad again. I busted Baxter out of a shelter the day before Thanksgiving. He's an Australian Cattle Dog/Shepherd/something mix. There's a couple of pics here: http://tripawds.....-happened/
An angelversary and a holiday all in one would definitely be tough for me. I hope you're able to find peace and joy on Christmas with nothing but fond memories of Nitro.
And since I'm still counting ... Rocky's ampuversary is 10 months today.
Sally: I haven't looked for any pennies in the car. Maybe I'll do that tonight.
Jackie: The rescue estimated his DOB as 11/15/15, so roughly two years old. I may change that to 11/18/15 since the 18th was the day I went to see him the first time.

I got a Christmas card from Rocky's oncologist. She said she knew the holidays were tough without Rocky and that she was thinking of us. I thought that was incredibly compassionate of her.

I think 11/18 would be a FABULOUS day for a birthday......that's my birthday, lol. I'd be proud to share it with Baxter.

That just shows you what an impact had on EVERYBODY he met! He clearly touched his Onco's heart. It was a very thoughtful gesture indeed.

Me too. I took Rocky's Cuddle Clone with me to my parents so that he could "be there" in spirit. When I got home, I broke down. I even went and pulled his stocking out (I never bothered to decorate or put a tree up this year).
I know for you and Nitro, Christmas was also an angelversary so it was extra tough. I thought about you all.

Time flies.
It was one year ago today that Rocky's limping became started up again - this time for good. I figured it would clear up the next day, like it always had before. No idea what was about to hit us. Just a weird, eerie feeling now because it doesn't seem that long ago.

I‘ve been thinking of you and now I have a better understanding of your grief - not something I ever wanted to have, believe me. I think taking Baxter in was very brave if you but at the same time I think it’s great you have each other to care for. -and I‘m sure he’s taking care of you to some extent, too.
I am lost in my own grief so I am not of much use but I wanted to let you know I‘m still here at least, thinking of you on a day like this.

Osteo and amputation in Dec 2015. Second, inoperable, primary osteosarcoma found in June 2017.
The end of our adventures came Dec 10, 2017. 2 years to the day.
David and Tina please know that right this second I am sending you both massive hugs!!! I think this goes to show that our love for our fur babies never dies!
Time is a funny thing isn’t it David?! In the blink of an eye, we are reminded to love and live life to the fullest!
Tina, you are solid! Even in your own grief, you are reaching out and offering comfort to others and we are all very grateful for that!

All I can do is add my love.
Along with remembering the dates of the first limp, etc. Be sure and force yourself to balance it with a date that bringss you a happy memory too. It's so important for Rocky,and Manni too, to know that the happy memories matter more than anything else. That's all that mattered ro them.
