Just got back from the vet. Otis is going downhill fast.  His X-rays were so bad.  No black at all, couldn't even really see where the heart was because there are hundreds of modules now.

Vet put him on prednisone and I hope it helps enough to give him a day or two more.  He may not make it through the night.

Otis - 121 lbs pre amp - 114 lbs post amp and now 118 lb Great Dane - English Mastiff X.  Started limping on 12/24/16.  Diagnosed with Osteosarcoma 12/28/16 - amputation of front left leg on 1/6/17.  Stitches out and 1st round of Chemo on 1/19/17.   2nd round of Carboplatin on 2/10/17 - 3rd round on 3/2/2017.  4th round was scheduled for 3/22/17 - however due to low WBC postponed - 4th Chemo completed on 3/28/17.  Had breathing difficulties, stayed in Tufts ICU overnight.  Due for 2 more rounds of Chemo but we are opting to go with homeopathy with Dr. Loops instead.

M yVet told me one time, although Prednisone has potential side effects, sometimes it can be a miracle xrug for awjile. Really, really hoping it can help Otis stay with comfortably for some more snuggle and loving time.

We are all with you and holding onto you tightly. I know your heart is breaking, Your love for Otis is soooo strong. You WILL stay fully focused on his presence with you for however long that may be. There will be atime to collapse in grief and we will jon in th our tears too. Until that happens, just be bynhis side continuing to co fort him and tell him how much you love him...And maybe through in a good butt scratch and tummy rub.

Sending you our love, our strength and clarity

Oh, sweet Otis. Mosby is also nearing the end of his journey. In my head I think of Otis and Mosby as brothers of a sort, because their amputations were so close together, and both have fought through setbacks. We send all our love to you and Otis. This is such a crap disease, and our sweet ones don't deserve this.

7/15/17 10:30 p.m. Otis is gone.

We took a nap and when we awoke his respirations were 80/min.  Even through all of that he was happy and wagging his tail. You could tell he wasn't well, his abdomen was distended and he was panting horribly.

He went so peacefully.  I will never question if we did it too soon.

I know I will be looking for him every second of the day.   His care was such a HUGE part of my life, even before he got sick.

I can still feel his presence on me.  I can smell him on my hands and clothes.

Otis entered our lives at 11 months old on 7/10/2009.  He was a big, long legged goofy boy.  A little bit immature and rowdy.

For the last 8 years he was part of our family and we spoiled him rotten.   He is the best friend I have ever had and likely ever will. He left giant  pawprints on my heart ❤️ that will never go away.

I love you Odie - come visit as often as you like.  Remember our talk?  I asked you to come see me.  I know you will.

Go run free with Eurydice and all of our other family members that have passed.   One day it will be my time and then I will come see you ... look for me at the bridge.

Sooooo much sadnesss.....sooo many tears going on ........how many times can our hearts break?? I am just soooo very, very, very sorry our magnificent Otis, sweet, magnificent Otis had to head to the Bridge.

I smile a little through the tears though, just knowing Otis did things his way and on his terms!! And he wagged to let you know he loved you....to let you know he was excited about becoming young and free again.....to let you knlw he Knew how much yiu @oved him...and he wagged to say "thank you".

Otis WILL connect with you without question! It may take awhile because he's having such a good time at the Bridge feeling all young and frisky!

As hard as it is going through this gutwrenching grief, and it is so unbearably hard, please k kw that Otis could not have been more loved. Otis had THE best time with you! Those happy fimes will help push the sadness further into the background...not for awhile though. The void after caring for a tripawd is so dark...so empty.

As I've said to others, and as I've said to myself. If someone told me my grief would go away instantly but I would never have had Happy Hannah in my life...yeah...nkt even an option. We would e dure thid kind of grief over and over in exchange for having a wonderful dog like your Otis in your life for the past eight years. And Otis will ALWAYS be in your life!

I want to thank you for the privilege of getting to travel this journey with you and Otis. It really, really is an honor. And, when you can, please share more of your life with Otis, and especw with more loctures. That sweet boy has such a kissable mug!

Odie....we love you too and you will NEVER be forgotten here.

Surrounding you with Otis's eternally wagging tail...And a few slobbery kisses too...And surrounding yiu with our love..
