I wanted to thank everyone for their kind words after the loss of our Ellie. Everyone here who has been loved by a Tripawd knows how hard it is to say goodbye when the time comes. But I know she was ready to leave and we did one last thing for her---make her pain go away.

I hope nobody here will judge us, but we've already adopted a new dog! It was either now or wait until late September and he would not have still been available by then. His name is Toby, and we adopted him from a Pyr rescue in VA. He's about 90lbs of squiggly love. We're thinking maybe Golden/Pyr mix? Or maybe Lab/Pyr? Whatever he is, he's a sweetie. He loves his walks! Bill and I are having so much fun w/ him. Just couldn't resist showing him off.

Active 10+ Pyr mix suddenly came up lame with ACL tear in left rear leg. Scheduled for a TPLO but final pre-op x-rays indicated a small suspicious area, possibly OSA, which could have caused the ACL tear. Surgeon opened the knee for TPLO but found soft bone. Biopsy came back positive for OSA. Became a Tripawd 9/18/14. Carbo6 with Cerenia and Fluids. Pain free and living in the moment. Crossed the Bridge on 7/12/15 after probable spread of cancer to her cervical spine. A whole lifetime of memories squeezed into 10 months. Here's her story: Eloise

OH look at that big furry hunka love! Judge you? No WAY! You opened your hearts up to a new pup who really needed a fabulous family like you, that is the most generous thing, and Ellis is so proud! She wants nothing more than to see you hoppy and taking care of another pup who needs it, so YAY! Congratulations, he's so adorable. Thanks for sharing 🙂

Congratulations to all of you! And no, there is absolutely nobody here who would judge you for finding the ideal pup to fill that huge hole that Ellie left in your lives. It also sounds like you two are already filling a huge hole in Toby's life.

We are finding out how much a rescue dog can love a new family. Our Ollie has gone far beyond what we ever could have expected in just a month. Here's to continued long walks and lots and lots of snuggles for your pack.

Kathi and the Turbotail April Angel...and the Labradork

Murphy is a five year old Lab/Chessie cross. He was hit by a car on 10/29/12 and became a Tripawd on 11/24/12. On 2/5/13, he had a total hip replacement on his remaining back leg. He has absolutely no idea that he has only three legs!

UPDATE: Murphy lived his life to the fullest, right up until an aggressive bone lesion took him across the Rainbow Bridge on April 9, 2015 and he gained his membership in the April Angels. Run free, my love. You deserve it!

Never have a worry here, this is a COMPLETELY judge-free zone, and your new boy is absolutely gorgeous!! That is one of the amazing things in this wonderful community, never a judgement on anyone, for any reason. The fact you have adopted a new fur love, is only proof that you have an incredible ability to continue to live and love in the face of heartache. The decision as to when and how, we get new pups in our lives, lies completely within each one of us.....Just like our pups, no two of us here are completely alike, close, but not completely.

I know that Toby ended up in the BEST home he possibly could !! Enjoy every single minute, of every single day with this sweet guy....!! 🙂

Love,

Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife

OMD . . . HE'S BEAUTIFUL! And God bless you for adopting him! I gotta believe there's a special park on the other side of the Rainbow Bridge for folks who rescue/foster all animals.

Again God bless you!

I can't judge you.. lest I be judged myself..

My Franklin left me on May 15th 2013, and on May 17th I was on the phone to the breeder.. and on May 20th, we went down to look at Wilson. He came home with us on June 13...

I personally do not see anything wrong with getting a dog after saying goodbye.. that is what dog lovers do!  And everyone's timing is different, some wait, some don't, there are no rights nor wrongs.  It's all when you yourself are ready!  I don't see it as "replacing", I see it as building my pack so that when I arrive at Rainbow Bridge, I get knocked on my arse and get covered in wet muddy paw prints and slobbery kisses!!  That is something to look forwad to, but I will wait for a while if you know what I mean!

Congrats on your new addition.. he is such a handsome boy.. and he knows how lucky he is.. cause I am sure Ellie has told him!!

Christine... with Franklin in her heart♥

Franklin, he was the Happiest Dog on Three Legs! Diagnosed 09/26/2012 with Osteosarcoma, amputated 12/4/2012.  Had a wonderful 5 1/2 months painfree until he ran for the Bridge on 5/15/2013.  Always in my heart, and always a guardian angel of my pack...   You can follow his Tripawd Adventures, before and after, in my blog, Frank'n'Farter!

No, Nope no judgement here.  I am glad Ellie brought you someone to snuggle and love on.  Everyone knows when it is right.  We know the loss and how hard it is here and the grieving just about breaks us sometimes.  Sometimes the only thing for our furbabies to do is to send us someone to love.  They know we will not forget them but need someone to help with the hurt.  To open our lives up again to live & smile again.  Like Chris states never replaced but another spot in our heart 🙂

Toby is beautiful and welcome to Tripawd land Toby

LOOK AT HIM! HE IS SO HANDSOME! Boy are you BOTH lucky to have found each other. So happy for you all!

We adopted Mac in June 2014 from the GRCGLAR and he is our little baby boy, despite the fact that he is 11.5! Almost a year of bliss turned into complete devastation when he started limping on his front right  leg and it was discovered on April 16, 2015 that he has bone cancer - specifically Osteosarcoma. We were luckily directed to Tripawds by our oncologist, Dr. Avenelle Turner, which changed our lives and guided us through the amputation process.

Read more about Mac's incredible story on his blog: http://teammac.tripawds.com/
