I think I've either completely lost the plot or taken leave of my senses.
Willow will be 10 years a tripawd this September and can't walk more than 15-20 min due to severe arthritis in the remaining wrist.  So I've just purchased a doggy stroller for her to come with us when we go on days out etc, rather than leave her behind cos she can't stick the pace.  Not something I've ever seen being used here in Ireland; perhaps we'll be trend setters....

Splendid solution!!! We've seen strollers used here many, many times and with great success! From what I've seen here most dogs take to them fairly quickly:-)

Willow still gets all the benefits of being with her pack, being out in nature, sniffing all the delicious scents floating by her in the breeze AND, still being able to walk some without overdoing it and without causing pain!

Some of the techies can post pictures of dogs enjoying their strollers. I know Dymind and Buddy thoroughly enjoyed their "chariots"! Looking forward ro seeing pics of Willow!

You are a GREAT Mom!

Hugs!

Sally and Alumni Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle and Frankie too!

Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!

Hi Willow and Evie heart

TEN years as a tripawd, that is amazing clap and a tribute to you as the greatest MOM heart

From what I've seen here with other dogs she will adapt very quickly, it's all about making our babies happy, isn't it?

I'm sure you'll both get a lot of attention and she will get even more cuddles from everybody !

As I remember from visiting Ireland, people are very, very dog friendly clap your girl is going to be a star !

Sending you a big hug and cuddles to beautiful Evie heart

I bought a stroller for Jack last November. She has about the same range as Willow and we were both getting bored with walking the same block in front of my apartment building twice a day.

I felt like a complete fool the first time I used it, but in my neighborhood Jack is widely recognized and I think most people understood why I was pushing my dog around in a chariot. She gets a lot of smiles and questions when she's out, and I've gotten over my initial embarrassment! We now use it weekly or so to go on much longer walks, or on errands she wouldn't be able to normally join us on. Sally's right- she loves all the new smells and quickly learned how to ask to ride when she's tired and get out when she wants to explore.

I've been a proud dog stroller mom since 2006!  I started when Tri-pug Maggie had her rear amputation.  She lived almost 4 years and so the stroller was a constant unless we went on a very short walk. Mag's little sis pug Tani was full of energy and needed to walk farther that Mag could comfortably go. Mag took to the stroller like she was entitled!

I think it was about 2 years after Maggie passed that Tani's arthritis got to the point that she needed to ride. Tani HATED the stroller at first and would bark continuously while we were out. That ensured that the few people who had not noticed I was pushing a dog in a stroller were alerted to the spectacle!  It took months of working with her to get her to ride quietly.  During one stretch I had both Tani and pug Obie in the stroller while he was recovering from knee surgery. Tani did finally get used to the stroller and would even lay down sometimes on her rides.

It seemed to make more sense to people when both dogs were riding than when one was walking and one riding. For awhile I felt I needed to explain why I was using a stroller.  I certainly never thought I would be doing something so silly!  I got used to the people smiling and us... I figured I was happy that we could provide a little levity in someones day!

So you'll give the neighbors something to talk about - who cares!!  10 years as a Tripawd is just fantastic - I say put some bells and ribbons on that stroller and celebrate!!

clap

On October 27, 2016, nearly 6 months after amputation, and 18 months since his cancer likely started, we lost Pofi to a recurrence of Soft Tissue Sarcoma in his spine quite suddenly.  His canine sister also succumbed to cancer on March 1, 2019 - we lavished her with our love in the interim, but life was never quite the same without her only real canine friend. Cliff kitty had to leave us, too, suddenly, in August 2019. Lucia kitty grieved all these losses, but helped us welcome two new Lurchers into our home and our lives, Shae and Barley.
