Today is another one of those firsts. Its the first birthday of Sassy's I get to celebrate without her. She would have been 8 today. Last year since I didn't know if she would be here another year and I guessed right I made sure that we had a big celebration. We grilled out and she got her own Ribeye steak and cake and ice cream from Dairy Queen.
These first really suck but like Karen said one day I will smile when I think of them. Today the tears are here trying not to because we have to go to the vet for a check up for Bosch. Hate for them to think I am crazy LOL.
So in celebration of my baby girl go have some ice cream & cake. Heck do it right go to an awesome steak house and have dinner too. 🙂
Sassy I know you are healthy & happy and one day we will be together again. Until then my baby girl I will always remember your special days. I love you very very much

05/04/2006 - Bosch, Sassy's pal, earned his wings 03/29/19 fought cancer for 4 months.

Those pictures of your girl make me smile.....sweet Sassy had the best mom in the world. You know you gave her the BEST life ever, no matter how long or short it was, and I truly think it was unfair to lose her so young.
Please do not feel bad about shedding tears today, or ever.....I haven't been able to get through a vet visit yet after losing my Polly, and not bursting into tears, my great vet has gotten used to it.
You gave Sassy the best birthday ever last year, and I hope those happy memories are what you think of today and always.......and also hope each day brings peace and comfort into your aching heart.

(((hugs))) My vet thinks I am a nut case for sure. I had had Jasper for 24 hours and took her to get checked up and offered her to them! I was dead serious too. They even offered to find her a home if I couldn't/wouldn't keep her.
Boy did you and Bonnie know how to celebrate birthdays! I think at most - Shelby got a Frosty Paws and some 'wet' food! But we always shared french fries so it worked out in the wash, I figured!!!

Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife

And because of Sassy, there are a lot more dogs in this world who now I know what steak tastes like! With every birthday and ampuversary that Happy Hannah had on this journey, I always heard her whisper, "Thank you for showing my mom how to make birthdays really special!"
I never heard her whisper "thank you" when I put birthday hats on her though!
And, we cannot have a birthday celebratio of our sweet Sassy.without adding one of the best sketches of alll time.......

Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!

Awww Sassy, I woke up today thinking of you when your birthday reminder popped up on my calendar. I know that this is a ruff day for your Momma, the firsts are hard, that's for sure. I hope you and all the doggies in heaven are having a big pawty in your honor, with great big juicy steaks for all of you!
Hugs to you Michelle, you're in our thoughts, wish I could give you a big hug in person today. And oh my gosh, welcome to the nut house. Like I always say, if missing your dog on a special day like this makes you cry, then you're in great company, we're all nuts here (and most vets are pretty nuts about animals too, that's why they're vets, so they get it for sure!).
