Hi Paula! It's been awhile. I don't get around here as much as before. Glad you all were safe too. Nitro is definitely looking out for you.

Grrrr. Looking at our Next-door site today, those two dogs got out again this morning.

Tonight, we walked past where they had been spotted. Didn't see them, fortunately. I was so mad when I saw they had gotten out again, it's probably a good thing for them they didn't run into me.

I'm glad they weren't there.  Im worried though about if you run in to them again.  I still think a good pepper spray would be at least enough distraction to get away if you need.  Sorry,  i think there's a time you have to draw that line in the sand.  I love animals, you know that.  But you have to be able to take a walk and be safe.

If we had run into them last night, I was going to channel my inner Cesar Millan and let them quickly know who the pack leader is.

Somebody posted a picture of them yesterday morning running loose in the neighborhood on our next door site. I don't know how it ended; if the guy found them, animal control got them or what. I assume by now the guy has them back.

I'll just have to stay on guard on our walks.

That's it David. I know that most of Cesar's training methods are considered outdated now, but our confidence and attitude still matters in my opinion. It can make a huge difference. Jim and I are runners and we often encounter loose dogs. Knock wood, getting all Cesar on them seems to help.

No more run-ins with those dogs, but I went ahead and ordered some bear spray. I was talking with a friend who lives part-time in Alaska. He says he doesn't go anywhere there without it. And if it's good enough for a bear, I figure it's good enough for a pit bull - without doing any long-term damage.

Yeah it's sad that you need to even go there but I understand. Paws crossed you never need to use it.

Yup, hoping I never need it. But I'll feel better just having it.

I know that has to make you feel more reassured (and it does us too)!  Now you can hopefully enjoy your walks now with peace and confidence.

Would love to see a video of Baxter enjoying  his walk.  Bet he wags and walks proudly  with a lot of sniff stops.

Have your parents entertained getting another doggy yet??  Send them our best. I know their hearts still hurt.

Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!
