I think site is having issues,  sorry for the late response.  I was at work earlier and now I'm fighting with things loading correctly.

Happy Gotchaversary!! Baxter's ears are too adorable for words.. as is the rest of him but I see those ears with that face.. OMD❤❤❤

Umm.. I'm with Sally on the chipmunk... I love those little creatures😄

Have they talked to you about just removing that dang dewclaw? The boney ones are considered more of an amputation but in the long run it may save you both accidents and pain.  It's a pretty simple procedure... much lower scale than a limb.  I hate to compare but it's kind of like a cat declaw, but less painful and only one digit.  Just a thought.

I can't believe the time that's passed.  Blows my mind.  I'm truly glad that you found each other.

Sending you hugs and ear scratches to Baxter 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉

Hugs,

I agree with Jackie....I hate dew claws! After Kodi, I swore I'd never have another dog with them. Tucker still had his when we got him at 5 mos, but I had them removed when he got neutered. I agonized at doing it to him at that age (vs right away as a newborn pup), but I've never regretted it. And like she said, its considered an "amputation" when they're older; Nitro had a toe removed when he was about 4 years due to malformed toe nail, and it was not an issue.

I, too, think chippies are cute - we haven't had one in our yard for over 2 decades (thank you terrorists!)

Cute pics - happy gotcha-versary!

Oh yeah those dew claws...poor Baxter! We've never had a dew claw problem on our dogs but I probably just jinxed myself for our future one!

Hope everyone had a happy Thanksgiving. I think it's Baxter's favorite holiday since he usually gets a little turkey along with his normal dog food.

I asked the vet about removing the dew claw last year. He pretty strongly advised against it. Unless it becomes a bigger problem, we'll just deal with it when it comes up.

I don't mind the chipmunk running around the yard. But when he starts getting into the walls of the house, then we have a problem. And I'll leave it up to Baxter to solve that problem. 😉 Although I haven't seen him in a few weeks. I don't know if he's gone into hibernation (do chipmunks even hibernate?) or if something got him.

I noticed this little bump/growth on Baxter's lip. We've been to the vet to have it checked, and they don't think it's anything to be concerned about.  It doesn't bother him, but I thought I'd check here to see if anybody has seen something similar.

Good for you being so attentive and getting things checked out. What a lucky dawg to have you for a hooman!

Did they call it a papilloma? Our Wyatt had one and it looked like that, came up all of a sudden. It reminded me of a member who had the same thing happen around the same time:

If she gave it a name, I don't remember what it was.

Did Wyatt's eventually look like a little cauliflower? The vet showed me pictures of her dog who had one that grew to where it looked like a cauliflower; she thinks Baxter has the same thing.

I have a bit of a reputation at the vet office. I'd always rather get something checked out and be told it's nothing rather than assume it's nothing only to find out later it's a problem.

Yes it did look like one! Here's a gross pic, I just realized he had blogged about it:

Does it look like that at all?

Better to have a reputation like yours than to never go at all. You're pawesome!

Yeah, I think the one on her dog looked similar to that.

Baxter's hasn't really changed much since I took the picture on Thursday. I'll just keep an eye on it.

Thanks! I feel better now.

Sorry I am late, I have not had a lot of time lately. In my honest, unprofessional opinion it looks like a little lipoma. They are just little fat filled growths and are common as dogs age. My Pepper started getting them in different places on her body and they were harmless. They generally grow slowly, and if any seemed to be getting large I just had them taken off when she had her dental done. Some do grow quicker than others, so regardless of what kind of lump it is I would just keep an eye on it and watch to see if it gets larger. This might sound silly but if you have a measuring tape that is cloth, like the ones a seamstress would use, mark the size. If you don't, grab a paper and a sharpie and mark the paper from one end to the other and keep it to compare occasionally. It is funny how things change and then we scratch our heads and say.. hmmm... I don't THINK it has grown much?! This way you'll know for sure. If it stays the way it is, doesn't get in the way of him eating or playing/chewing on toys and stuff.. I would just leave it.

PICTURES! PICTURES! PICTURES! I NEED pictures of your adorable boy (group photo would be even better smiley2) He always makes my heart smile, and my heart could use some smiles right now.

Sending hugs and ear scratches to handsome Baxter sp_hearticon2

Rocky had fatty tumors around his side. I'm guessing those were lipomas? Baxter's doesn't appear to have changed any since Thursday. And it doesn't bother him at all. It was dumb luck I discovered it at all.

As you can see, Baxter has it pretty rough:

Awwww... he is just as adorable as ever ❤️❤️❤️ Thank you!

I'm glad it's nothing to worry about.  And fwiw... I'm not at all shocked that you found it.  You pay close attention to him!😊 I would have been more surprised if you hadn't found it... just saying.

Baxter, you are melting my heart yet again♥️. Every dog should have it so "rough"😉
