Almost 14 months since my best girl left her earthly body... I still miss her and am desperate for more signs. there are never enough and I know it is is a human thing but I always think she thinks I have moved on and healed. Because I have been able to bond with Jasper Lily.

This morning before my run, I was sitting on the couch, holding jasper and I told her she was the perfect size (she is SO much smaller  than Shelby at 17 pounds where Shelby was a 'solid' 24 - 26 pounds). Both DID / DO fit in my lap. Anyways... I looked into her eyes and said I am so thankful that Shelby sent you to me ... she knew I needed an airplane sized dog! 🙂

So fast forward... long beach run, trying to erase the broo-haha (aka BS) from last week and I am chilling on the couch again... take a baby nap and I have a dream and in it, two dogs are playing on my rug .. they are wrestling, nipping tails... it is rather blurry but I think it is a young Shelby and Jasper. It was blondish dog ...

I don't know if it b/c I was trying to send a message to Shelby or thinking about her or thinking about Jasper's bushy tail or saying earlier how they would have played well together and loved each other ... but I like to think (and need to think) shelby came to my dreams to tell me, it's OK, mommy... (she called me mommy and jasper calls me mama or madre).

Funny how the brain works ... I think Shelby sent me Jasper since she knows that I need to get out of the city more and more and Jasper is a perfect travel size dog. some days i just need to be around jasper, I think I am bordering on one of those people that 'needs' their dog all the time.

So for fun.. this was me and Shelby three years ago.... I don't know I still smile that big!

Image Enlarger

And Jasper's "art project" as Karma put it ... last night. I call it 'channeling her inner shelby"

Image Enlarger

Happy Saturday friends and thank you for always listening to my crazy steam of consciousness posts .... you all truly are the only ones who 'get it'....

much love,

alison with spirit shelby and little jasper lily

Well if that sweet dream wasn't enough to shake the bs from the previous week, I don't know what is. Love it!
P.S. And you are in good company, there's not a single person here who doesn't need their dog around all the time. Life is boring without them!

Heck, you know who that was in your dream and know that was a message to you.  Who are you trying to kid 😉  We all need our babies.  I just took Thursday night off the computer laid in bed and snuggled with Snickers.  I know why, it was just one of those days where I needed that.  I had many days I would do that with Sassy.

Travel you will with your little JL who will love it.

Oh JL, you keep your Mama busy! Getting in the trash! Taking lessons from Spirit Shelby. That dream, yes it is a sign from Shelby, just to let you know she is ok. Needing to be with our pups, well, we all get that here. Hugs, Lori, TY & the gang

TY GUY, Best Black Lab ever! Diagnosed  and had amp in January, 2014. Kicked MRSA's butt. Earned his angel wings on April 16, 2014. Run Free my boy and don't forget a shoe. Alison,

We will always listen to your conscious thoughts regarding Shelby....and you are right, that is EXACTLY why this community is so special and like no other, we DO get it. We all find ourselves occasionally falling back into our hole of grief from time to time, and just need that little lift of love from our friends.

I too, am such a believer in dreams having meanings, and it goes beyond our conscious and unconscious thoughts. That is the easiest way for them to check on us and make sure we are really ok. And I too seem to need my dogs all the time.....They just put me in a place of complete contented existence.

Sending Love and {{{hugs}}} your way,

Bonnie, Angel Polly, Pearl, and Zuzu

Loving this!! So many fun things!

I like Karma's depiction of Jasper Lily's "mess" as artwork!! Perfect!

And to know what Shelby "calls" you and what Jasper "calls" you! I'd love to listen in on their other conversations with you!

The "reason" you had the dream was Shelby SHOWING you hiw vibrant and young she is at the Bridge! And SHOWING you she is indeee right by your side!

Shelby is THRILLED to know you are healing! That's what she wants! That allows her to have even more fun while in her Spirit/Energy state!

I have to say, traveling with Merry Myrtle and Frankie this last week end...having them as my companions...sharing my hotel with them.....having them by my side non stop the entire week end....it was just so nice to have a "family vacation" with my best friends. And, of course, it was nice visiting with my extended "human family snd friends" too. Except for having two oit of control dogs on a leash, it opened up the possibilities of me taking a short 24 hr. vacation somewhere like you did so often with Shelby and are now doing it with "travel size"Jasper Lily. Tha ks for sharing these little get aways and showing us how much fun it can be to jjst travel with yiur dog! Best kind of pack!

Yep! We get it!!

A d btw, both you a d Shelby are smiling big smiles in that photo! Look how happy she is!!

Love you!

Sally and Alumni Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle too!

Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!

Thank you ALL.... perfectly said - Bonnie! Complete Content! That's how I feel w/Jasper ... I used to say we were comfortably happy and now I think we are truly happy together. She loves me so much and I love her too.... as much as I try and resist.

Oh Sally... traveling with fur-babies is the BEST! Your agenda, your timeline, all you! Dogs are just happy to go!!! Jasper is a great travel buddy and I was worried at first since she was /is scared of everything but she does adapt as long as she's with me. That she could go on the boat at the lake and just be chill was the best. We still need to work on manners at restaurants (and barkies) but she's gotten so much better!!!

In fact, I honestly prefer traveling with Jasper (and Shelby) vs anyone else.... even if people think it's odd - single gal on a holiday weekend at a big table for 4 ... it's how I prefer to spend my time! 🙂

Yup... that was definitely Shelby letting me know she's playing, she's fine, she's in her healthy body again... I love that! Whenever I dream about my daddy, he's in his sick form ... I don't recall memories of him healthy and young. So I am glad that Shelby chooses to come see me as the healthy pup she wants me to remember!

XO love you ALL!

Wow...such a beautiful dream and you're so blessed that your mind is open enough to be able to let them in!  And you're in great company here because I think we all NEED our fur kids in our lives.  Lucian has been a pain in the a$$ at times throughout the almost year we've had him...he is SO mischievous way-cool!  But through that time his quirks have found a place in my heart.  Hubby always says when I'm ready to pull my hair out over something Lucian did, "well we wanted something different from Leland and I'd say we sure did get different."  I was thinking more along the lines of coloring not a dog who seems to be on crack....winker

I know you had a difficult time letting Jasper in but once you did both of you have blossomed!!  No doubt Shelby wanted to make sure your next partner in the journey of life was travel size...winker.

LOL ... dog on crack! So funny!!!!! Lucian sounds a lot like he's channeling HIS inner Shelby!

Shelby did a great job ... it's funny how the mind works and what you can let in. I block out so many painful things in my life in general that it's nice that my unconscious allows me to feel, hear and love ...

So this morning on the way to work, was flipping stations and I stopped on a station that had an Enya song. I was taken immediately back to over a year ago - the restless Shelby days after her amp, the pacing at night, the lack of sleep and I remembered that I locked her out of my bedroom (tough love approach) turned on some Enya and hoped for the best ... And woke up and she was in the bathroom on her purple mat -  totally fine. It brought me sadness this a.m. for a minute and then reminded me how strong I must have been to force her (knowing she wouldn't hurt herself) to be strong too.

I do miss that girl ---- SO much!

Oh and other funny story - every few days I come home from work to find several pairs of my panties in the living room (jasper)... I figured she was nesting w/them and Shelby liked to snuggle w/my delicates too. Well today, I was super tired, got ready for work, went to a meeting and just ran to the bathroom and noticed ... shreds... tiny shreds on the side of my panties .. teeth shredding. I didn't notice my drawers were falling apart when I got dressed this a.m.! D@mn you Jasper!!!! First she put tiny holes in all my socks and now this... dog literally is eating me out of house and home! 🙂

I am telling you, she is Lucy's sister! All of our socks seem to have holes in them.Little chewed  holes. My hubby left a brand new pair of jeans on the floor recently and they now have a chew hole in them. I have thrown away 2 pair of undies, have since made sure they go directly into the hamper. Shoestrings don't stand a chance. Now, so you all don't think I am picking on Lucy or L as we call her, she has been observed chewing on above mentioned items. As I am typing this, she is happily knawing away a t an antler. Lori, Ty & the gang

My goodness....what is the fascination for our pups and our underwear?!?!?!?way-confused

I've lost count of how many times I've had to chase Lucian around the house to get back clean underwear (usually mine and not hubby's), socks (hubby's), and wash clothes.  Hubby will walk into the laundry room and Lucian will sneak in and steal something out of the clean clothes basket (that hasn't made it up the stairs to be put away yet).  Lucian is so quiet and stealthy (for a 100+ lb dog) that it's quite comical.

And good lord I can't forget the king size comforters he's decided to tear up.  For some reason he decided to rip a big hole in the latest comforter and pull piles of stuffing out and leave it all over the bedroom.  He chose to do this while I was in the shower yesterday morning and I was quite pi$$ed off when I came out of the bathroom...mad.  So then I bust out crying while trying to clean up all this stuffing and chasing a$$hole around to get some out of his mouth.  That evening I had to go buy ANOTHER comforter set and thankfully the Kohl's store had the exact same one in store as I had bought the other on-line.  So I'm peeved having to spend another $130 but then I'm telling myself "at least it's not carpeting, couch cushion, or recliner as Leland had chewed up".  Of course hubby finds it quite humorous.  I normally rush right home to get him out of the crate but since he caused me to have to go buy another comforter I figured he could spend some extra time in the crate until I got home and I wasn't going to rush to let him out.

And then this morning at 1:30 am we are cleaning up a poopy pile and poopy footprints throughout the house.  Apparently, Lucian did not want to have to be outside any longer in the rain after he peed so he came back in the house.  I'm thinking he's done with his business.  We get back in bed then he takes off running through the house...then the tale, tale sign of poopy smell drifts to the bedroom.  I go out and see the mess and that some has been squished.  Then I see poopy tracks on the hardwood floor.  Lucian's peeking out from the bedroom and then I see the poop on his back foot.  Needless to say I was none to quiet and got hubby up to help clean the mess.  We're pulling up and washing throw rugs, mopping up floors, and cleaning carpet in the wee hours of the morning.

I know how everybody loves hearing about Lucian's antics so I'm sure the latest will give quite a few laughs.  I think we're starting into the terrible two's early since he's only 1 year old.  Hope he makes it to 2...winker

Hugs

I have to admit I did chuckle a little.  I totally understand frustration been there done that.  Snickers got a tap on the butt yesterday morning because she was trying to get a bone from Jasmine and I had bent down to get my shoes and she shoved the door & door knob into my eye.  So now I have a black eye.

I have chewed up carpet.  Holes in my bedroom... I just have given up on that.  I try to keep a bone in my room for her to chew on.  Oh well.
