Hi, I'm Kim and I'm new here - about to adopt my first tripawd dog (front leg) from a shelter. He's a lab mix, older fellow (5+ years) and had his amputation about 2 months ago. He's overweight and I feel that's making his adaptation tougher - he's still pretty slow and has a tough time getting around.
All that said, I'm looking for a local vet recommendation in OC who's experienced with tripods as well as any recommendations for physical therapy. I wish I had a pool for him, and I feel he'll need some good water-based rehab. I'd also love to consider a full limb prosthetic to help him out (but I might be getting ahead of myself, will try the wheelchair first!)
Thanks so much for any tips; I'm excited to join the tripawd community!
Hi Kim, welcome. Your future posts won't need approval so post away!
My internet is terrible right now, but I will help you find a good OC rehab clinic in the AM. I grew up in the area!
For now see our 10 Things to Know About Adopting a Tripawd article. And thank you for giving this pup the pawesome home and family he deserves!
