Hi

So my 3 legged German Shepherd bitch has massive osteoarthritis in her remaining hip (as well as a possible very early Cruciate ligament injury). We were referred to the East of England specialist centre but they have no experience in operating on Tripawds so are being pretty vague about options! Anyone know of anyone in the UK who might have more experience?

Thanks!

Hi Natalie,

I'm so sorry your girl isn't getting around well. How is her pain being managed right now? She needs to be on something to control the pain, like anti-inflammatory medication, or even something like ketamine injections (which this member, Meg, got from her UK vet).

It's good that you are going with your gut and looking for another practice, and it's good they are being honest about not having much experience working with Tripawds. Sounds like a good practice for the four-leggers!

I'm not sure where in England you are in relation to where Meg lived (sweet soul has recently gone to the Rainbow Bridge). But she had an AMAZING vet and physio therapist with Phillipa Mitchell at Active Pet in Coleshill, northwest of London. Is that anywhere near you?

If you aren't close to Phillipa, I recommend reaching out to Meg's mum so that she can give you some ideas, but hopefully other UK members will chime in here soon.

Thanks Jerry.

She’s on Librella injections and an anti-inflammatory pain killer tablet and seems quite happy.

We are North East of London so I’ll reach out to Meg.

Thanks!

Oh those injections are supposed to be really good! Her pain control sounds like it's all dialed in.

Yeah definitely reach out to Meg's mum Clare. If you don't hear back let me know and I'll make a connection.
