Howdy all,

If it's not to late to post a question for the show today, I'd like to ask about using glucosamine/MSM/ etc. supplements. I know Dusaquin is very popular. It's also very expensive. Is there any reason I can't give my dog a human supplement that is almost identical in ingredients and dosage? I've found both a powder and a liquid that I can mix into my dog's food and would cost me about a third of the price of Dusaquin. Any thoughts?

Thanks for asking!

We'll run this by our guests but since none of us on today's show our vets, we'll try to keep this in mind for a future show when we may interview a veterinarian or vet rehab specialst. Until then, consider asking Dr. Pam in the Ask A Vet forum.

(Dr. Waldman suggests not using a hip/joint supplement until symptoms present the need for one, and she recommends using only third-party tested brands.)

FYI: For each upcoming Tripawd Talk program, we will post a new topic in this forum for members to post questions related to the topic to be discussed.
