Hi all! We've been using the Tripawds resources for a few months now, as we adjust and support our beloved 10-year-old border collie mix, Loki, in his newly tripawd status (cancer in his back right leg). We've gotten so much out of the articles and resources during this time, especially during the early days after surgery. His surgery was two months ago, and he's been doing well, gaining strength, some physical therapy, and enjoying life as he can. 🙂
One thing I haven't found: are there ever tripawds meet ups? We happen to be in the Boston area ourselves, and it would rock to meet some fellow three-legged friends.
Hi Sarah and Loki, welcome! We are so glad you decided to post, and super hoppy that Loki is doing so well. YAY!
We love it when people hold a Tripawds pawty! They can happen anywhere anyone wants to take charge and organize one. We've had them happen everywhere from San Francisco to Richmond, it just takes one person to lead the charge!
Here's a post about how to go about it:

If you decide to start planning one, announce it here and we can help you promote it!
Jerry can give you a vetter answer with more details, but I'll just share how I first started my Tripawd Pawty in the Richmond, Va area).
Can it recall all the particulars. I posted on the site that I would be arranging a pawty. I got a response from a fellow member and I went ahead and secured a date in an outdoor covered area in a local park that also had a dog friendly fenced area within.
At that particular time there were several active members so ehat within the area. It seems that this site was basically the way word got out.
We had people come from a couple of hours away and from adjoining states. We did get a local TV station to do coverage.
It doesn't matter if you had three people (and their dogs), or thirty, the bonds formed were beautiful and lasting.
Good luck with the venture👍
Hugs
Sally and Alumni Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle and Frankie too!
Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!
Great question! I think for the most prt you nave to just pick a place like Sally did and just go for it. If you want, post some cute Tripawd pix here and I can do some announcements to draw some folks here ans see where. convenient spot might be for everyone interested in going.
Thank you both (again, too!), Jerry and Benny! Benny, it's awesome to hear how you started your first Tripawd Party. It sounds like a total success! I imagine if I get one off the ground here it'll be more on the smaller side. (So cool you got local news coverage, too! It's nice to get the word out, both about this community and the joyful life tripawds can enjoy. I envision something with less publicity, but do love the concept. 🙂 ) I also appreciate that the size of the gathering doesn't matter; the support and bonds do. <3
I'll totally keep you all posted. I have a fence-in dog park in mind that I think might work north of Boston, but want to check out other nearby options, too.
