A little over a week ago my 6 year old lab Abby was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma after I noticecd a limp that didn't respond to doggy aspirin and continuted to worsen. She goes to the surgeon this monday for her amputation. This all happened so suddently and not only was I not emotionally prepared but I was also not financially prepared for any of this. As I'm sure many tripawd pawrents know the medical bills associated with osteosarcoma and amputation can add up quickly. Beacause of this I am in the process of organizing a fund raiser, hopefully at the 17th street dog park (still waiting to hear from the county) on Feb 20th. Although the details are still being worked out we plan to have a silent auction with goodies for both quadra and tripawds as well as their pawrents, doggie ice cream and snacks and a grooming station as well as tshirt, bandanas etc. All the proceeds will be split between Abby's bills and the National Canine Cancer Foundation. Three weeks post op I'm assuming this will be Abby's first big outing as a tripaw and if there are any others in the Sarasota, Fl area we'd love for you to come out and help us raise awareness! Feel free to email me with any questions Ruthie@dmeoxygen.com and I'll be sure to post details when everything's set in stone
Welcome! I am so sorry to hear about Abby's diagnosis. Boy, I sure wish I lived near you, I would be at that pawty for sure. It's a wonderful idea and will be great for helping the cause and awareness too. I look forward to hearing more about Abby, please consider starting a blog for her. It really is good therapy to journal it all down as you go through the healing process with her, and it will always be there to help other's.

Welcome to you and Abby. It is a really tough diagnosis and many of us have been there. You will find tons of great info here and lots of support. The fund raiser sounds like a great idea. Hope you have the best turnout ever.

It's official! Saturday Feb 20th we will be hosting a "Canine Cancer Awareness Pawty" to include silent auction, grooming station, customized tshirts with pictures of your dog and much more. In addition Safe Haven Animal Rescue will be having an adoption event. The Pawty will be held from 10-2 at the 17th St Paw Park in Sarasota, Fl. We'd love to see any local Tripawds!
Wonderful news! Best of luck with your fundraiser.
Please feel free to download and pirnt these Tripawds fliers and cards for the event to help raise awareness of the ongoing support we provide here. And remember, Tripawds is a registered trademark, so if any items being sold have the term "Tripawd(s)" or our tagline – "It's better to hop on three legs than to limp on four" – we ask that they include "tripawds.com" somewhere in legible text. Thanks!
