Well, we got some not so great news from Lucy’s follow up X-rays today. The drs found 3 nodules on her lungs and she officially has metastatic disease. We are choosing not to do further chemo treatment, we just want to Be More Dog going forward. The dr says she has 2-3 months but we don’t believe in expiration dates around here though!!
Until we see a decline in her health and she lets us know it is time, we will spend our days living to the fullest! My heart hurts and the anticipatory grief is strong today, but come tomorrow I will be strong for her.

Your path is our exact path. We are just recovering form the news about the mets in Zeus's lungs but he is running and playing and eating and I sometimes think "did they mix up the xrays"? Be More Dog is the way to go.

And I know exactly what a tripawd walks look like, I am running behind Zeus.

Take time to recover from the shock of the unexpected news but you will get your strength back for Lucy and she will live her best life yet! Both of them will!sp_hearticon2

Many of us know all to well the kick in the gut when you get that news.  It takes a bit of time to process and then, just as you are gearing up to do, you move past it and onward and upward!

Follow Lucy's lead AND know without question that she is NOT  a statistic!!  You've  been on here long  enough  to know that dogs can have a GREAT extended  qua time way beyond "meta".  And thr fact that Lucy is sympton free is such a good sign.  And I say that in part, simply because IF sysmptons  do develop, there are lots of other options to continue  quality and comfort.

Keep pictures coming and continue  to make each moment rhe best ever!  And Be More Lucy!!

Oh no you guys! I'm so sorry you got this crappy news. My heart hurts for you. But I also feel like you have an amazing attitude that will help all of you make the most of whatever the future holds. Because honestly you just don't know how this will play out. Quite a few dogs here have lived much longer than anyone expected, even with metastasis (our Jerry got 8 more months with two big mets!). As a wise member here once said, "Dogs don't have expiration dates stamped on their butts!"

Keep up the pawsitivity and know that Lucy will follow your lead. You can set a tone that will continue making her days wonderful and full of joy, I just know you can. And when you feel overwhelmed and upset, you can sneak away and come here to lean on us, we totally get it.

(((((hugs))))

I'm so sorry for this crappy news.  I hope that you feel the love and support that is beaming to you from this Tripawds nation.  I'm glad that you plan to ignore the vet's prognosis.  Griffin was first diagnosed with lung mets in July and hasn't slowed down since then.  I know that Lucy will enjoy every moment she has with those she loves, and I wish for her many, many happy days ahead!

Griffin lived an amazing life for 11 years! Diagnosed with osteosarcoma on March 17, 2020, Griffin's right forelimb was amputated on April 2, 2020. Ten days later he was running and playing fetch! Lung metastasis discovered in July 2020 did not slow down Griffin and he lived joyfully for the next 7 months, passing peacefully at home on February 11, 2021. https://griffin.tripawds.com

Thank you all for the encouraging words and love! We can definitely feel it!!
Lucy got to see her favorite chiropractor today and feels amazing now! She had some soreness after those X-rays yesterday.

We will always follow Lucy’s lead and right now she is full of life! We are keeping her on K-9 Immunity and Transfer Factor along with ApoCaps, fish oil and CBD oil as needed. Is there anything else we can do to help her body out?

Yay for your pawesome attitude! And for the chiro magic. What a bonus for Lucy during a tough week. A little adjustment gives so many benefits for her and you guys too!

As for her supplements and things, those all sound like excellent choices. Helping her body out as far as diet would be just making sure that she doesn't gain any extra pounds from all the spoiling and love she gets! I can't blame you though, she is so adorable I would find it tough not to spoil her too.

Good to hear we’re doing everything we can do to help her!

Thankfully, Lucy has always been on the lean side and we’re actually trying to put a tiny bit of weight on her! She’s getting a whole cake (not in one sitting) for her 6th birthday this Sunday! Lots of pictures to follow.

Awww Hoppy Birthday Lucy! I can't wait to see the pawty pics. Eat up and chow down, you've earned it!

I'd say that you are doing everything possible to help her enjoy life. There is some sense of freedom once you let go of the medical intervention, I remember that's how I felt anyways when we stopped Jerry's metronomics . It was sad of course, but it also enabled us to just enjoy our time together. Focus on the day to day beauty of living with Lucy and you can't go wrong.

Jusy catching up. By the avatar picture Lucy is georgus! Would love to ser more.

As Jerry said what a wonderful attitude you have, which I know Lucy is defintely following your lead.

As far as much time our pet has left, nobody knows except the one above. Brownie was given two or three months, and lived an additional one year and eight days. I honestly believe that alot of it has to do with being happy, loved, and the attitude that we have, that our pets follow.

Just as they say Be More Dog , and embrace each day with Lucy!

My Beautiful Beloved Brownie was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma on February 26, 2019.  With all odds against him he lived an additional one year and eight days with amputation, love, and prayer.  I was honored to be his mom, and I have never been so proud!  He will live forever in my Heart!

WOOOHOO! What a great picture, I love the carpet runners. Yep, totally get it.

The birthday girl looks like she had a fun day getting spoiled. How'd she do?
