Hey guys, I posted on here a little while ago asking for advice, thank you for the wonderful responses on that one.

we found out that he was healthier than expected. His grade 3/4 dental turned out to only be a grade 2 dental, and everything else was running great!

The lump did turn out to be a sarcoma so we got the leg and scapula amputated and we brought him home today. It was a frustrating day since I had work and had to leave him to my brother and dad and my dad was questioning all the set up that I had for Gizmo and we got to the vet and she agreed with what I was doing so he just had to suck it up.

I got him a pen which is in my brothers room going out onto our shared balcony with bifold blinds that are closed at the moment so he can’t get out. He has food in the pen and litter and water on the balcony and when I got home I put foam/rubber mats in the pen since I saw someone else say they did that and thought it was a great idea!

He went to the toilet for 1&2 so that was great, and I changed his soft cone out (because he couldn’t walk as it kept getting in his way) for a sock one that I made by stuffing a long sock with more socks and tying it with an elastic. I’m trying to keep the kitty litter clean and the vet said the crystal litter should be good so that’s good, and they’ll call tomorrow morning to check on him!

I’m gonna ask them what I can use to clean his wound as it has some blood that seeped out and dried.

If anyone has any tips on anything from here out I would love to hear them!

I’ll add photos of his pen and stuff tomorrow if I can, I just can’t figure out how to do it on mobile.

Hi Katie it's great to hear from you! Thanks for moving on from your old topic, since Gizmo has now graduated into recovery! YAY!

Sounds like you've got the recovery setup just right, good for you. That will help him exponentially over the next few weeks.

I think you should check out our What to Expect articles for more tips 🙂

Keep us posted and if you'd like help adding images to the forums please message me and I'll help. Otherwise this is how they work:

  • Upload pics to a photo sharing site like imgur.com or your own Tripawds blog (https://tripawd...../supporter). Pictures and video have to be hosted (live) somewhere other than in the forums.
  • Once the photo is uploaded somewhere, right click and copy the Image URL or just copy the image if you’re on a phone
  • Return to your Tripawds Forum post and paste the image URL (or the image itself) in your post. It should automatically appear.

If you’d like help figuring out the process let me know.

STANDING  OVATION  TO YOU AND GIZMO!!   So glad surgery is done and he is home!  Recovery is no picnic at first and full of ups and downs.  So be sure and stay con and let us know if you have any questions.

It's sweet that your Dad has taken an "interest " in the "recovery set up" for Gizmo.  Well intended, but it does sound like you have an excellent area for Gizmo to recover.

AMD yes, look forward to seeing pictures of Gizmo, espec with the "sock" arrangement.   Very creative!

Managed to upload the photos, thank you!

Gizmo has a check up tomorrow so we’ll see how they vet thinks he is doing, he’s already been hobbling along and meowing to get attention and get into my room from the balcony, so he hasn’t gotten discouraged due to losing his leg, he even still got up from sleeping and came over and tried to steal my pizza last night lol.

Awww sweet baby! He looks very comfy. I’m so glad you were able to upload the pics. You’ve really done a great job with his recovery ward.

Pizza stealing already? Things are off to a great start! Keep us posted.

Such a handsome kitty.  Love his coloring  and love how he likes to snuggle with you.  Good recovery set up you've put I to place.

Let is know how the check up goes tomorrow.   He certainly seems to be doing very well
