Ok, so Peanut is fine. Whew! I may not be fine, after receiving the bill for today... but that's a different story. 🙂

It was all what I originally suspected. She has an infection, which I liken to a doggy cold. And she overdid it at the golf course and gave herself a good sprain. Now she's taking meds for a bit and is on the road to recovery. She has to stay off the leg for a little while, so we're back to using her sling for potty breaks. We haven't had to do that since the first couple days after her surgery. No more outings for Peanut for at least a week.
He took more xrays. Still no lung mets. Her front leg was perfect (except for the swelling, of course). And her heart looks and sounds great.
The vet drew some blood to check her liver and whatnot. I won't know the results of that 'til later. He's also checking for lyme again, although her last test back in August was negative. I'm sure all this will come back fine, too.

So she got the care and treatment she needed and all will be back to normal soon. I always think of and prepare myself for all possibilities (best and worst), then hope for the best. So I'm happy to report good news.
Thank you all for keeping her in your thoughts!

****************

Maybe when she's better we'll have to work on planning a New England tripawd party! She'd be thrilled to hang out with handsome Romeo and hunky Oslo. I think I noticed Shaun and Supai is in New Hampshire. So there's more of us than we thought.

I am so thrilled to hear that Peanut is fine!  It is so easy to go over the deep end with worry.  Good luck keeping Peanut quiet.

Yea for Peanut, I'm so glad, with a little rest and chicken soup, she will be good as new.  I think we all are always bracing ourselves for the worst and hoping and praying for the best.  A cold and muscle sprain sounds pretty good right about now.

Take care,

I forgot to add her picture from today!

Here she is after returning home from the vet visit. This is where and how she'll be for the next few days, hopefully.

After I took the pic above, Bubba decided that he's had enough of Peanut getting all the camera attention lately. So I had to appease him and post his pic, too. Peanut just said, "Whatevs, Bub... just don't wake me up."

SO there's my pooped Peanut and crazy Bubba. And yes, that full mattress they're on is their actual doggy bed. It's usually on the floor next to my bed. But I dragged it out into the living room so Peanut can be spoiled for a bit.

Woohoooo!!!  Peanut!! What a relief!! Oslo is wagging his tail !!

My best advice is to take some rest now because in a day or two, she will bounce back and will be full of energy. I guess she will have fun wearing you out!! Big Grin

Suzanne

P.S.  Lovely pictures! Bubba, give Peanut a big kiss from us but please don't catch that cold

Yaaaaaay! That is pawesome news!!! Isn't it funny, we're doing a happy dance for an infection? I know, but really, if it's something that will clear up with meds, that is reason to rejoice!

Don't forget you can put a request out there in our Tripawd Parties Topic to find other New England Tripawds, I know there's some out there!

We love Vermont, hope to be back there next year and pawty with you pups!

Dear Melanie and Peanut (and Bubba): Yay!!! We're so glad Peanut is on the mend and will be feeling better soon.  We're from the Burlington area and know exactly where Rutland is. Romeo and and I are very proud of our "native Vermonter" status!

If you just ask Romeo if he wants to go to Vermont he jumps up! One of his best friends was a Saint Bernard Okie (after Okemo) and Romeo's nick name is Bubba/Bub so we have a lot in common! We would love to have a New England/Quebec Tripawd party!

But rest up for now Peanut and get better soon. Take care, Eve and Romeo

So how's Peanut feeling today? Any better after resting a few days? She is just such a sweetie in her pictures...

You're all too sweet and funny!

Peanut is doing much better. She's no longer lethargic or goopy (well, less goopy, anyway... she is still a St Bernard). Her front leg is no longer the size of a small tree trunk. There's still some swelling, but it's gone down considerably. Her bump-on-a-log days are over, as she's back to her normal mobility, mostly. I've been restricting her to short potty walks only.
I feel bad doing that, since twice today she hopped outside and straight for the car, thinking she was going on one of her adventures. But I'm being extra cautious so that leg can heal properly.

Despite the short outings, limited to our immediate neighborhood, she's happy and recovering well.

Maybe it had to do with all the positive vibes sent my way! 🙂 Once she's completely better, I'll get more pictures.

-Melanie

Thanks for the great update. We're glad Peanut is doing better. We always recommend more frequent but shorter walks for recovering pups.
