Shelby's stitches are coming out tomorrow morning.  Is there anything in particular I need to be prepared for after they're out?  Believe me, I'm no stranger to sutures/staples but Shelby is my first ampawtee.  I know the area is obviously still very tender (Friday will be 2 weeks) as she went to scratch with her right hind leg today and screamed out.....and when Kona accidentally bumped into her, she yelped again.

Guess I won't be putting a harness on her anytime soon.  But I am hoping that she will be up to going in the heated therapy pool so we can build strength in her three legs.

Her webpage went up on the rescue's website today.....gulp.

Just for Shelby to start feeling a whole lot more comfortable! Please consult your vet with any specific concerns, but once the stitches are out it should be perfectly fine for Shelpy to start wearing her harness, and get in the therapy pool.

It might actually help to have her wear the harness a few times before you start lifting her weight with it, just to get her used to it and ensure the first time you try hoisting her isn't a painful experience.

Hoping getting the stitches out is non-eventful!!!  That's great that she can do water therapy, the vet recommended that for Denali and I asked the vet 'Do you feel Denali's evil eye upon you - she believes she would melt in the water!' - he laughed at me, but it's true!
