Hi all,

Our dog Lucy, will be having her back leg removed in 2 weeks because of a tumor. We have found out alot of information from this great site but  we were just wondering after the op, how long does she need to have someone stay at home with her? We both work and will need to book holidays.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks for joining, your future posts will publish without moderation. What kind of tumor does Lucy have? Osteosarcoma or soft tissue?

Many people return to work within a couple days. Jerry was fortunate since we worked from home. If all seems well after a couple days, and Lucy is confined to a safe recovery room with plenty of water, she should be fine on her own, but be sure to ask your vet for a professional opinion. Recovery is usually complete in about two weeks. Perhaps you could each schedule a few different days off so Lucy is not alone the first week.

Be sure to bookmark Jerry's Required Reading List for lots of recovery and care tips in. For immediate answers to the most common dog amputation questions consider downloading the Tripawds e-book Three Legs and A Spare.

We look forward to following Lucy's progress and seeing her picture!
