Almost forgot it is Polly's 4 month ampuversary today, because I just got a call from her vet a little while ago, that the lump she had removed last Thursday from her right rear leg, has come back positive for hemangiosarcoma again. The only bright spot is, the tumor was very small, and the margins were clear, not huge margins, but clear. Unfortunately with this type of cancer, it can and will just pop up anywhere at anytime down the road. So needless to say, I'm very happy Polly has made it this far, but don't want to think too far into the future. My husband and I have already agreed and decided on things we will and will not do anymore. Financially, it has been a strain, but doable, but now, I feel like even if we had all the money in the world, we can't stop this cancer. More rounds of chemo will not happen again, and the surgeries are taking their toll, as well. I may now look into holistic treatment if that can be a possible option, but otherwise, taking one day at a time and making her days as happy as I can. I surely love my sweet, strong, beautiful Lab girl.

Bonnie,

I am so sorry that you got word of the biospy.  I was hoping it would be better news than that.  I am so sorry.  Keep your chin up and love & hug on her.  Do what you can and do not feel guilty.  Polly doesn't know the difference.  And like you said check into holistic stuff if that fits your budget.

Hugs

Oh guys I'm so sorry, that's just not what anyone wants to hear. I'm glad you are taking things as they come and communicating within your pack, that is SO important. Being in agreement is key to staying sane through the cancer ordeal.

And whatever you do, remember that cancer doesn't always do what it's "supposed" to do; sometimes that can be in our favor! Our friend Bucky has been fighting hemangio for a couple of years and he is still going strong! Here is his story, I hope it cheers you up.

Hoppy Ampuversary Polly, may you have many, many more! clap

Oh I am so sorry to hear this. Shelby has that kind of cancer (mis-diagnosed in her leg and found it in her spleen before her amputation). It is a nasty little beast for sure! Pretty vicious!!! Like Jerry said - there are no time frames on cancer and let's be positive! Polly needs our positive and healing energy and Shelby and I are sending you lots and lots!!!

I hear about about finances. It's been a rough year - I tell everyone this was Shelby's college fund! But I know you are strong and we're ALL here for you!

Love and hugs!

Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife

Bonnie and Polly! Yeah, ditto what everyone else has said.

Yeah, this is "one more thing to deal with", but this is "normal" for this journey.

EVERY dog IS different! Yor attitide is such a plus for Polly! And that link Jerry gave you...WOW! Two dogs right there who made their own rules and blew "statistics" out of the water! You've been here enough to know Polly's on her own journey and will do things her way! And right now her way is to continue to enjoy life to the fullest and enjoy all the loving and spoiling she can cram i to every second!

Let NOTHING rob you of your tme together!! Polly sure isn't! A sentiment around here I saw from an older post......"When you start missng what isn't fone...you lose what's left."

Now we have so e celebrarng to do!! And the crowd roars, "HAPPY FOUR MONTH AMPUVERSARY"!!clapclap GOOD JOB SWEET POLLY!! And you've got many, many, many, many, many, many ore coming your way!clap

Happy Hannah and I are eatkng a great big bowl of ice cream to help you celebrate!..ad lots of chocolate too!!winker

Se ding you lots and lots of love and hugs!

Thank you to everyone, my heart is lighter today. Jerry, thank you for the story on Bucky, I can only hope that Polly ultimately has a similar story. Sadly, the only experience I have with this type of cancer is my beloved black Lab Maggie that lost her life very quickly to it 2 years ago. I don't know what tomorrow or the next day will bring, but we are still determined to be diligent in trying to keep fighting this nasty cancer as best we can, but we have not changed our minds on doing more chemo, again.

Sally, I promise more pictures, but we had a terrible ice storm last night that completely knocked out our cable, which has now been out for 15 hours, and our electric has been off and on. So I am using my cellphone right now which is getting really difficult.

Before I finish this post, I do want to say that Polly had a great day today, so I did too.

{{Hugs}} to all.......♥♥

Hi Bonnie,

I'm late but I wanted to say happy ampuversary and cancer sucks!

My pug Maggie had recurring mast cell cancer, but then she developed oral melanoma.  She too had been though enough and she was also battling some other health issues.  I had decided on no more surgery and no more treatment.

It was sort of a difficult decision to make, but once I did I felt a sense of relief.  No more trips to the vet, no new meds (although she was on a boat load already!), really no more worrying.  I knew our time was short but I focused on making every day our best day together.

I wrote down why I decided not to continue treatement. It helped me later after Mag passed and the 'what ifs' tried to creep into my thoughts.

I hope there are many, many best days with Polly!

Yikes! Ice storms are miserable, especially when they take out your power! My woodstove is m source of heat so I'm good in that aspect, but no electricity knocks ot my well so no water....ugh.

Polly had a great day and itn't letting any sily ice storm slow her down...or anything else for that matter!

Just want to add a penny's worth...first, I'm sorry to hear you lost Maggke and hlw you lost her. Try and remember that THAT experience does not equal THIS experience! Especially since Magge is one of the Angels watching over you and Polly!

If you want, you can PM me your email address and I'll forward that article/newsletter avut holistic approaches fro Dr. Ettinger and Dr. Dressler.

YAAAAAAAY for a gazillion more great days for Pollh!

Hugs and love!
