Excellent! Sebastian threw up the first day from taking his antibiotic and anti-inflammatory. We stopped taking the anti-inflammatory and it has been progressing nicely since then.

Hope Maddie keeps feeling better!

Less drainage is wonderful!  If she keeps the meds down that's all you can ask! If she doesn't,  just try a little food sometime before the meds.  Sometimes they just don't do well on an empty stomach.  I'm sorry,  so not trying to down your positive,  just keep it in the back in case you have troubles.   Call me over protective,  I'll take that with a smile😽

I don't think spacing it out is the right thing.  I'm just saying if there was an antibiotic that make YOUR stomach  nauseous,  they say have crackers,  bread,  just a little something to coat the stomach.  Give her a little something to coat her stomach to prevent vomiting. Then she can absorb the meds instead of throwing them up.  Make sense?

Yes - it does.  So I had my daughter give her some of her goats milk which contains probiotics an hour before I fed her dinner hoping that would help.  She got the meds with chicken and rice and she kept it down all night  and she didn't have to get up for diarrhea either - so major plus.  I'm hoping it was just a reaction to that first high dose.  Her wound is leaking MUCH less.  I have it covered in a sterile bandage from Walgreens then wrapped sort of loose with vet wrap (we tried gauze but as soon as it was on, she undressed herself lol).  when we took it off this morning to replace it, it was just one small area of fluid!  That's huge considering she had a faucet just two days ago!!!  She also figured out how to scratch on the door with just one front leg.  Admittedly, I'm perplexed about that but VERY happy she did it.  She couldn't have moved that much last week.  She's feeling good for the first time in a while.  So hopefully she will not have any more hiccups in her recovery!

MADDIE!!  QUIT UNDRESSING YOURSELF!  ,NO MORE WALKING AROUND "NEKKED"!! 🙂

Really glad to hear her tummy seems to be doing better, as well as the fluid leakage stopping (al.ost)!

I know it lights up your world to see her doing "normal" things again like scratching on the door...and with one paw! 🙂

Keep these good updates coming!!!

We had another really good day - no leaking at all.  Ate every bit of her dinner and got an extra treat - her second favorite (after frozen doggie yogurt) - Stella & Chewys.  So she enjoyed those with her meal.  She had a normal potty today (who gets so excited about "normal" potty???) so I am thrilled.  She looks great - just brighter if that makes sense.  I'm so relieved.  She has till Tuesday on the antibiotic and then I plan to take her in to her primary vet for another culture.  I want to make sure the infection is all gone!   Next stop Dr. Loops!

What antibiotic is he taking?

Sebastian was prescribed Zeniquin (antibiotic) and Carprofen (anti-inflammatory) - the first day, he threw up when he took both with lunch. We discontinued the anti-inflammatory since he takes quite a bit of salmon oil every day, which is a natural anti-inflammatory. He wasn't in any pain anyway. But since then, he's had no issues with his antibiotic.

The anti-biotic was a broad-spectrum antibiotic since we are still waiting for his cultures to come back (we took him in Saturday, so it should be anyday). But he looks good right now. Eats everything and wants to run around (but we got him locked up in the house). Knock on wood.

Glad to hear Maddie is doing well. Let me know how Dr. Loops works out for you guys. We are going to be calling next week for our first follow-up and get more remedies!

Today is Maddie's last day on her antibiotic and she's doing so well!  On Sunday we took her out back and let her off leash (fenced yard) for the first time since her surgery.  She wasn't sure what to do at first, but then she hopped around and enjoyed herself.  We also have started letting her move around the main floor of our house (she was confined to family room and my daughter's bedroom since surgery).  She was a little tentative but soon was back to her normal self, snoozing in front of the TV.  She's off all her pain meds and seems to be doing great.  Her back foot hasn't healed up yet (she cut herself at some point going back and forth to the vets oh so many times) so she's still a little limpy.  But the good news is the hole in her incision HAS COMPLETELY CLOSED!!!!  Yay!   I'm so happy to have my sweet Mads back!!!

Way to go Maddie 😍

Hopping around and snoozing in front of the TV, it looks you're back "home" 😁

Recovery is definitely over, as I see it from here!

Now onto enjoying life with your family sweet cute Dane 💗

Well done all of you !
