They are recommended Lumostine. Any one have any experience with this Chemo treatment ? It is a pill every 3 weeks and requires bloodwork. It sounds like it potentially lowers white blood cell count. I have a phone consult with the oncologist on Feb. 8th so I'm trying to research all options. I'm trying to let her guide me. She has only had surgery on Jan. 3 , Altough she seems to be doing well, I think she still adjust to life on 3 legs and tends to get frustrated or maybe even a little depressed at times.

Thanks

Oh gosh yes we have a lot of members who have used it for histiocytic sarcoma treatment. See these Forums search results for Lomustine and these for CCNU.

I don't have firsthand experience with this so I hope others will chime in. I can also connect you to Murphy's mom who I know would be happy to chat with you about it.

It's awesome you are gathering your facts so you can decide. These questions to ask your oncologist will help prepare you for the consult.

Meanwhile, it's not unusual for dogs to need time to adjust to life on 3. A January 3rd surgery is like yesterday, try not to worry. It's exhausting work to learn new ways to move your body with one less leg. Try walking on all fours yourself and lifting up the "leg" that's missing on Bella. Walk around with it up in the air and you'll get a sense of what she is going through. What you are describing with frustration and depression symptoms are pretty common. Over time, she will get her sparkle back. You might want to consider a rehab therapy appointment so they can pinpoint any possible pain issues and address them so her recovery can speed up. Remember Tripawds Foundation can pay for your first rehab visit ! 🙂
