I think an Admin has to approve the first blog post on a new blog before we can see it.
Admin guy should get to it soon.

Yep, Admin finally had a chance to approve the first post on Luke's new blog. Sorry for the delay! Your future posts won't need approval.
And what a cutie! OMG they did go crazy with the clippers. But he is still sooooo adorable!

How cute he is! Brownie got his total middle back and belly shaved. That was in March, and he is beginning to look normal again. I actually think he liked it because it kept him cooler. He is not natured like me! Lol
My Beautiful Beloved Brownie was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma on February 26, 2019. With all odds against him he lived an additional one year and eight days with amputation, love, and prayer. I was honored to be his mom, and I have never been so proud! He will live forever in my Heart!

Such a handsome voy...with or without fur!! And I agree, this was a little over the top as far as the shaving goes!!!
I'm sure he wont ve outmin the sun much, but a tee shirt may be needed if he tries to lay in the sun for more than a couple of minutes. As you Im sure you know, dogs need their fur (undercoat) to,protect from the sun and to protect from overheating. Crazy how it actually helps keep them cool.
I know I keep say this, but Luke is soooooo handsome😎

Thanks for posting his picture here Jerry! And thank you everyone for the kind words, I’m a little biased but I think he’s pretty handsome too!
We’re on day 5 post op and still doing great! Bruising is going away and the incision looks to be healing nicely so far. While I can definitely appreciate the need for a sterile surgical site I do wish he could have kept at least half his tail. He’s developed a ‘happy tail’ so I’ve been bandaging it to stop it from bleeding. Overall a small complication, if this is the worst hurdle we face during recovery I will be happy.
One week post op as of yesterday. Staples are coming out on Tuesday, very excited about that, hopefully we can ditch the cone of shame . I took down the x-pen and gave him full run of the apartment which has helped with his ‘happy tail, it’s scabbed over and no longer bleeding.
A quick question for you all, when did you resume (obviously short at first) walks? Definitely not going to do anything until staples are out and vet has checked him out.

Here he is taking a sunbath with his ‘sister.’ Notice he has his favorite tennis ball at the ready haha.
Wow Luke, you're making great pawgress! Here's to a happier tail!
As for walks, well, with Jerry, we started back with about 1/4 of his old walk, and even that was too much at first. So start slowly and if you see him sitting down to rest, then that's a sign he's gone too far. Try again the next day with an even shorter walk, and build up distance weekly by about 10% more than the old one.
Don't forget to take advantage of the Tripawds Foundation Rehabilitation Therapy Reimbursement program! These experts can evaluate Luke for his strengths and weaknesses and come up with a game plan to get him back to his old self. Plus the Foundation may pay for your first rehab visit so it's a win win!

Two weeks post op today! His staples are out and the vet was very happy with how he looks, he was cleared to resume all his usual activities. We are winding down on meds, 2 more days of carprofen and tramadol.
Here he is taking his first post surgery bath:
Sweeeet! Keep taking it easy, don't overdo it too soon, time to focus on strengthening and get going on those starter exercises .

Thanks for the link, admin! There’s sooo much helpful info on this site. Will definitely be starting on these exercises. Luckily through my job I have access to agility equipment and a pool as well so we can work on slowly getting him fit again.
Alas, no cheeseburgers for Luke, though I’m sure he would love one haha. Vet wants him to loose a couple pounds. He has hip dysplasia so protecting his remaining rear leg is a priority.
