So recently Coco is throwing up at night. 3 nights in a row now and it only seems to be a small amount of liquid. Once and thats it. Before a trip to the vet. Anything I should maybe try to help her out.  It is only at night. Otherwise shes still her normal self. Thanks in advance.

It sounds like stomach bile.  One of my dogs tends to throw up bile in the afternoons.  I feed my dogs at 5:30 am and pm.  If she throws up, it's usually around 4pm.  I've found giving her a biscuit when I eat lunch usually prevents the issue.

Oh poor girl! If it's only once, I'm wondering if it could be GERD? See:

Seems like around 4 am. Three nights in a row. Im starting to suspect the canned chicken in her kibble. At night appears to be bile. Although I just hooked her up with some cheese and she threw it up.

Oh no! If she's not keeping any food down it's definitely something to ask the vet about.

Wife said 3 more times this morning. Until she ate her regular food. Now she seems to be good. Im starting to think its been the canned chicken. Gonna try some burger and rice this evening. Hopefully will calm her stomach down. Any way here is some pics. Very rare she jumps and lays upside down on the couch with me anymore, but I will take it. Really hoping to get her to her birthday at least, which is Jan 9. She will be 11. And justbover a year for her amputation. They didnt think she would go past 9 months. Tumor is growing like crazy. Poor girl. We have done everything we possibly can.

Who can deny this face

*Update* she held breakfast down until about 1 and threw up again. I called thenvet and they gave us pepcid and an anti nausea med. Just gave her about a 1/4 cup of boiled chicken and rice. Hopefully its just a stomach issue and not a liver issue. Wife said it was mustard color which concerns me a bit. She seems to be in good spirits though. Fingers crossed Im not ready and hopefully neither is she. Im really hoping she makes it through the holidays. Its up to her

Pretty pretty Coco! Your eyes make my heart melt, I just want to scoop you up and cuddle with you sp_hearticon2

I'm sorry the barfing is still happening. What anti-nausea meds did they give? If what they gave isn't working, ask about Ondansetron (brand names: Zofran®, Zuplenz®). It's powerful medicine given to humans and works really, really well.

We are keeping our paws crossed for some good news and a happy belly! Give that girl some extra kisses from us. sf-kiss

Thanks she used to lay upside down next to me on the couch all the time pre amp. This was a rare treat, so we soaked it up together. They gave her Cerenia and pepcid. She so far is holding down the chicken and rice, but Im hoping that all it is is an upset stomach. She has this dry hack that sounded god awful. Im hoping all this is temporary. Trying not to jump to conclusions, but I fear we are coming to the end. Honestly, I was hoping she made it after the Holidays. Weird because my friend stopped by yesterday and commented how happy she was and how great shes getting around. You all know how it goes. Your mind races 100mph with all kinds of thoughts and its very hard to think straight when our best buddies aren't right. Sorry for the babbling Im Just trying to keep positive.

So let's slow that racing mind of yours down This journey always makes us go to worse case scenario,  especially  of there are "issues" involved.  And stay off Dr Google.

Once there's a GI upset it's hard to calm the tummy sometimes. Do what you're  doing as far as the boiled lean hamburger, skinless chicken and rice.  No fat.

Another med you can ask about is. Sucralfate ( probably  off on the spelling, but the Vet will know,  If I recall, you give it approximately  thirty minutes before meal.  Maybe even hold off on food for the day to help the tummy  irritation time to settle down

Yeah, when we have worries about our beloved pups it's all consuming and keeps us stuck in a "worry wart" rut.  However, when you focus on the way your friend sees Coco and on the way she is acting, that helps diminish the "worry". Whatever may be going on with her tummy doesn't  seem to be keeping her from enjoying being Coca.  Ao don let worrying deprive you of enjoying  the NOW jist like Coco!  I k ow ot's easier said than done, bit you'll do it for Coco.

OMD!  Those pictures!!!   That smoochable face!!  She really knows how to ppse further camera!  Clearly from the photo she doesn't  have a worry in the world.  Ahhhhh.....the bliss of being dog😎

Keep is posted and we always love seeing photos of Coco..hint!!

Hugs

Oh my gosh you are not babbling at all. Our minds go to some very scary and upsetting places when we see these changes during a cancer illness. But it's so nice that your friend was able to see a sparkle in her that you haven't seen lately, probably because you've been so worried. That's easy to do. I hope you felt reassured.

Cerenia is good but if it stops working, the Odanseteron is something to consider.

I know there were MANY times in our journey with Jerry that we thought we were nearing the end. One way we finally knew was that he had crossed the line of what we considered to be his quality of life markers. If you have some set up for Coco, you'll feel more confident about whether or not she is at that point in the journey. But I hope it's no time soon.

As Sally suggested, don't let the worry steal precious time away from her. Spoil her, indulge in those upside down lounging moments, and take things day by day. Staying present is a gift all its own, especially right now.

*Update* Been having trouble logging in to update, finally got in. Coco has gotten back to her old new normal self. She must of had some sort of stomach issue. Hoping she holds out through the holidays. At this point I dont see why she won't. Quite honestly I thought last weekend was it, her strength is amazing. Although less active she still seems very happy and seemingly painfree. She likes to pick and choose on how to use her energy. She is probably one of the most intelligent dogs I have ever seen. Shes amazing. I promise to snap a pic of her soon and update. I dont know how much time she has left, but I soaking up as much quality time as I can.
