Thank you all so much.  I can feel the love and pawsitive energy.  We now have poop!  We have to use 2 slings to help her outside.  Unfortunately I see she is putting her knuckles on the ground when she tries to walk.  After she did her business, Bret got her in a stance and she stood on her own weight.  She's not getting any exercise at the moment so I thought that was better than nothing.

I'm trying a little heat and alternating with ice packs along her spine and hips.  I've also tried some gentle massage along her spine.  She's panting from the meds but otherwise seems comfortable.  I help her switch from side to side when she's lying down.

I don't know where all this will end up but for today, Libby is still with us.

Love,

Amy & Libby....a Winter Warrior that fights on and never, ever gives up.

Liberty (Libby) was diagnosed with OSA on 1-22-13.  Right front amputation on 1-31-13. No IV Chemo. Metronomic Therapy started 2-19-13 along with supplements and some home cooking. Lungs clear until 1-06-14.  She's still her happy, hoppy, bossy self.  Living the dog life to the fullest and a proud Winter Warrior. :) RIP my Libby 4-21-03 to 3-19-14

She pooped! She pooped! (I keep telling Admin we need a dancing poop emoticon here ;)

That's awesome, let's celebrate!!!

Sounds like the pain management is kicking in and she's still Libby, that's wonderful. You sound like you're both holding up well too. I know this phase of things is SO hard to go through, but your strength is shining through and it's clear that Libby feels it too.

Here's to your pack, may today be a very good day.

Yes we DO need a poop icon, with party hats and blow horns, ha.

Libby is clearly bored so I stuffed a bone with some natural peanut butter and cream cheese.  That kept her busy for all of 60 seconds! :)

She's getting lots of love from us and our sons.  We are in a holding pattern....and still hopeful.

Love,

Amy & Libby

YAY YAY YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So good to hear!! You can stuff the bone and then freeze it. Might last an extra 60 seconds that way 🙂

Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife

We freeze a Kong with peanut butter slathered on the inside. Takes a bit of work to empty one...probably all of five minutes!

Do you have a rehab vet nearby? They might have some insight for you.

Kathi and Murphy

Murphy is a five year old Lab/Chessie cross. He was hit by a car on 10/29/12 and became a Tripawd on 11/24/12. On 2/5/13, he had a total hip replacement on his remaining back leg. He has absolutely no idea that he has only three legs!

UPDATE: Murphy lived his life to the fullest, right up until an aggressive bone lesion took him across the Rainbow Bridge on April 9, 2015 and he gained his membership in the April Angels. Run free, my love. You deserve it!

Thanks for the tips ladies!  I should have thought of freezing them since I make her frozen treats.

Kathi, yes we have a rehab vet facility here.  I've been reading about it.  I also picked up some massage tips from the internet.

Amy,

I didn't even want to sign on today because I didn't know what I would find with Libby.  I know things are not looking good you say.  My thoughts are with you, your husband, Libby and your other furbaby.  Libby is a definite fighter.  Keep showing us Libby.  She will tell  you when its time Amy

Oh Sally, that's amazing!  Thanks for sharing. I love how Happy Hannah pays no mind.

Hi Linda...things have not improved, sadly.  My heart is breaking because my head knows how this is going to end. Thanks for checking in.
