Well I know peppermint tea helps when I get nauseous from migraines (all too often) so that makes sense the essential oils would work!

I can also vouch for Veterinary Cancer Group but I think I recall your mentioning you were getting chemo from a VCA vet. Did you by chance get some Cernia pills? They cut down on the nausea and I remember Shelby getting those for about 4 days after her treatments. It did help.

Hope Muju is feeling better!

Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife

Hi, folks - update on Muji.  Things got a lot worse today - lots of vomiting, diarrhea, crazy drooling / panting.  I finally took her into the hospital where they loaded her up on fluids and a shot of Ondansetron.  She's looking MUCH better now.

BTW - she is on Yunnan Bai Yao - but that's on hold until we get her feeling better.  For now, it's a cocktail of Metronidazole for the diarrhea and both Cerenia and Ondansetrom (pill form) for the nausea (because the Cerenia alone wasn't helping enough).

Oh - and HUGE thanks for the peppermint oil tip.  I actually had some free Doterra from a friend who sells it - so I went ahead and put it on a bandanna that I tied around Muji's neck.

The good news is that the blood work tests they ran today showed no significant finding.

Maybe I was just freaking out seeing my pup suffering so much.  I was definitely having a Shirley McLaine / Terms of Endearment moment today ("GIVE MY DAUGHTER THE SHOT!!!!").  =)

I have a dumb question - how did you guys handle "the mess?"  We JUST put down carpet on our hardwood floors so Muji would have an easier time post-amp.  Now she's puking and pooping all over it.  I don't want to lay down towels because I don't want her to trip (she's still getting used to 3 legs).  Any advice?

Thanks, to everyone, for their continued support. I really means the world to me.

Hi Karsha and Muji

i too, just moved into a new house with brand new carpets the DAY i brought Vito home from surgery.

what i did, was put down a new painters drape over the carpet. it was big enough to cover the whole carpet so there was minimal edging to "trip him up". Try to get a 12 oz one (they come by weight and the heavier the weight the better) Once it's down it's just like a really big throw rug (at a fraction of the price) that will protect the carpet underneath.

They are quite inexpensive (you can get a 4x15 'runner' for less that $20, and a 9 x 12 might run you about $25-$30 tops) and they are made specifically to not let paint and "other liquids" soak through. While they might not get you into Architectual Digest, and will stain if they get "messed", you will be able to clean the bulk of any mess off, but it will not soak thru to your carpet. Once the worst has passed and he is no longer spewing from both ends, you can either wash it and use it for actual painting, (or whatever) or you can toss it out and your new carpets will never know there was a sick pupper in the house.

you can get them at any paint or hardware store, or a big box home improvement store. The important thing is to get a heavy duty one - the 6 and 8 ounce weights have a thin weave that don't offer the same protection against liquids

I hope this helps

Great advice!!

Had to laugh at the Architectural Digest comment! Nope, no home "decorated" for Tripawds will been recognized by that .magazine!

Wish I could remember who said that, with all the various rugs around her house it looked like a Clown had thrown up all over the floor!!!clownclown So true!!

Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!

Ohhhh totally forgot about Odanesteron! So glad it's helpful.

Right, Tripawd homes usually don't win any House Beautiful awards!

The mess....hmmm. You can try static cling carpet protector, or this stuff, its great:
