Hi everybodyheart

Now that Eurydice has completed her 6th sessions of carboplatin we will be starting metronomic therapy soon.

Any advice as to what I should expect?

Any set backs, side effects ?????

The oncologist explained the urinary system, kidneys and bone marrow can be affected hence she will be having blood and urine tests done every so often.

I would really appreciate to hear about your experiences as this is a new step and, although personally left with no more options, I am still holding my breath ............

Thank you so much!

Big hugs and cuddles all around heart

Eurydice 77kg/170lb Great Dane limping end of April 2016, amputation (right front leg/osteosarcoma) 4 May 2016 6 courses of carboplatin followed by metronomic therapy, lung mets found 30 Nov 2016. 3 courses of doxorubicin, PET scan 26 Jan 2017 showed more mets so stopped chemo. Holistic route April 2017. Lung X-ray 5 May 2017 showed several tennis ball size mets, started cortisone and diuretics. Miss Cow earned her XXL silver wings 12 June 2017, 13 months and 1 week after amputation and 6 1/2 months after lung mets, she was the goofiest dawg ever and is now happily flying from cloud to cloud woof woofing away :-)

I only did abput two weeks with Happy Hannah as she developed uti.....may have already been in the works, but discontinued the metro anyway.

Other than tne possibility of uri ary issues, I think al ost everyone who has tried it had no problems. I'm sure someo e will co e along a dd give you lots of links and first hand knowlege to metronomics ..

There's actually somethi g else a few have tried. It's called Lukeran (sp?') I think Katy tried it with Jackson after he had been on metronomics for quite a while and developed urinary issues. I'll TRY and fi d her losts about it....it was interesting

Hugs!

Sally and Alumni Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle and Frankie too!

Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!

Thank you Sally ❤️

What do you mean by Happy Hannah developed uti?

Good to know there is something else we can try if Eurydice's body doesn't agree with metro.

I haven't heard of Lukeran but will definitely investigate it further.

Just to make things more interesting I think my girl is going through a phantom pregnancy, she always had it around her cycles and so did Kinky before her.

I got suspicious as she has been restless for the last couple of nights, trying to make a nest in the bed and has adopted a toy, stares at it with very loving motherly eyes & keeps it close to her at all times when she is in bed.

I already spoke to the oncologist, she advised me to see her vet and says the medication to stop this before she starts producing milk has no consequences whilst on chemo.

We're seeing the vet tomorrow if they can or failing that the next day.

I am amazed at the fact that even after 6 sessions of chemo (which was supposed to make her sterile) nature takes over.

It is kind of poetic, in a way💞

Sending you much love and cuddles to your cuties 😘😘💕🐾

Thank you Kerren ❤️

She does look so so so sweet with her toy 💘 it's a kong.

My baby Kinky used to adopt soft toys and other things and the most original of all was ... wait for this ... a packet of butter 😂😂

We could not remove it as she would protect the butter and desperately cry if we got it so she ended up sharing her bed and the packet eventually almost became cheese after a few days of these motherly activities 🧀 but she kept looking after her buttery baby until her medicine kicked in.

Never a boring day in an animal lover's life 🐶🐱🐹🐰🐥

Sending you much love and cuddles to your beautiful kitties 😘❤️😻😻

Hi Sally❤️

I didn't know what a uti was but reading through the different posts in the link you kindly sent me, I realised you were referring to a urinary tract infection ...

Link was really, really helpful and Lukeran was mentioned there, as you said, it is another type of metronomic chemo.

Sending you a big bear hug and cuddles to your sweeties 😘❤️🐾🐶

Hi Sally 🌹

The emojis are built in on my iPhone my daughter has another phone (forget the make) it's an android and also has a lot of those, which mobile do you have?

The emoticons are on the phone keyboard in the buttom left if you press the little globe they should be there under emoji.

Oh, look at me, sounding like such an expert when any 8 year old kid can teach me far more than I can learn 🙈🙈🙈

Sending you a big bear hug 🐻 and cuddles to your beautiful pack 🐾🐾

Too funny about your girl and her babies:) wondering what I may encounter when Sailor comes of age LOL.  Nice to see that you left her intact, so many people are against me not spaying Sailor yet.  Want to wait until she is at least 18 months so she gets the full benefit of her hormones while she grows.

Quite right Summer you don't want to spay them too soon ☝🏼️

But sometimes there is a downside ...

I  did wait for 2 cats I adopted 16 years ago to be old enough and - of course - they had babies 🐱🐱🐱🐱🐱🐱

My partner (who never had cats before and is English) was appalled because as he put it "but they are brother and sister" 😂😂😂 obviously didn't know much about how nature works 😂

Sending you a big hug and lots is cuddles to your gorgeous pack 😘🐶🐶🐶🐾🐾🐾
