Lili has finished two Carbo treatments, the third was delayed last week due to low WBC (so her last treatment was almost a month ago). She seems like she has felt well, though, generally happy and spunky and all that.  No appetite issues, no nausea/diarrhea.

This weekend, we went for walk at a local trail.  It was warm here, but not crazy hot and we went early in the morning.  Barely into our walk, Lili just got pooped.  She was still game to keep going, but we could tell it was getting really tough for her and she was just sagging.  We only had been walking for 5-10 minutes, and we have previously (post-amp) been on 30 minute walks no problem.  We turned back early and let her stop a ton to catch her breath, and we all made it home in one piece.

She was completely zonked the rest of yesterday.  She also struggled a bit with stuff that hasn't been a problem since just after amputation surgery.  She struggled to climb the stairs and had to scramble, rather than take a graceful hop, onto the couch.  She seems sore, and her sole back leg seemed spent, like it just couldn't support her weight to bound up the steps.

I feel terrible that we encouraged her to overdo it!  I hope that's all it is - that we underestimated how sluggish she is with the chemo.  Or maybe the low WBC count is somehow at work, like she has a low grade infection that I don't know about?  I hope that a some rest will get her back to normal.  Limited activity, lots of help onto the couch to resume her rigorous snoozing, etc. Poor kid - I really didn't see this coming as she seemed to be doing so well.

Awwww little Lil, sorry you had a less energetic day. sounds very much like a bit of overdoing it. any have pulled something, strained or twisted something.
Don't know if she "jumped" to get into the car, but that in itself could certainly pull/strain so me thing

eating, drinking, good attitude, etc., wouldn't worry.
If a day or two rest doesn't help, I'd get her checked and see if she can have an anti-inflammatory. And NO stair climbing sweet Lil:-) :-) Let your servants carry you .Ike the Queen that you are!

The major dpsurgery itself can still give a little "less enthusiastic" day every now and then. Just started getting into heat and humidity here inVirginia and it really zaps Happy Hannah out.

May will tell you LNG walks are rep.aced with a lot of sitting in the shade and sniffing the air or rolling around in the grass waiting for tummy rubs!

Again, and I think Erica verified this, low WBC doesn't really show any outward side effects/symptoms.

Let us hear from you for updates. You know how we all apworry on each other's behalf so you don't have to!

Rest up Lily!

Salt and Happy Hannah

Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!

Yes, low WBC does not have any outward signs BUT they can get some type of infection from it, so maybe she is feeling a little lousy?  Was she put on an antibiotic?  Jill was the first time her WBC's dropped, but they dropped a LOT.

Jill is a 9-year-old tuxedo kitty. She was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma in June 2012 on her toe in her right hind leg. Her leg was amputated on 12/12/12 and she completed four rounds of chemo (2 of Carbo, 2 of Doxy) in April 2013. Awww, it's OK. Forgive yourself, these things are always a learning curve. If she continues to not be herself tomorrow, let your vet know. I'll bet that the R&R is what she needs though. Hang in there!

Poor Lili. As everyone here knows Shooter was just like Lili - cruising thru with no side effects and then BAM...he dropped like a rock. Like Erica said , it could be an infection and if she has a fever - well you know how bad you feel with one of those. You might want to check it out, but she will probably just need a couple of days being a couch potato. Don't feel bad - you certainly didn't know she had a low gas tank!!

Keep us updated.

Spirit Shooter was a Miniature Australian Shepherd who was diagnosed with a MCT and had a LF amp 1/28/13 at 13-1/2 years old.

Shooter crossed the Bridge on 8/28/13, his 7 month ampuversary and two weeks from his 14th birthday.
