Celebrate these victories today!! Write them down! You are seeing improvement!!!
As far as “never recovering”, cannot answer as have never seen that happen. as far as the worse case scenario you have painted. If a dog ran before on four, they will run again on three.
She wants to run, but I think, this is too early? I will always be afraid that she hurts herself. And that our usual walking-routes are too much for her.
Love that video! Leyla is BEAUTIFUL! She is gorgeous!!
You'll soon have new videos of Leyla enjoying playing and swimming in the water and you will have HAPPY tears!!!😁😁
Patience is one of the greatest lessons our dogs teach us on this journey....and one of the hardest when we're in the roughest part of the journey.
I know it's ja4d for you to believe, but for those of us watching this delightful video, we had no tears, we had nothing but smiles! That's because we KNOW, those of us who have been where you are now, we know she will do all these things again!!!
Hugs
Sally and Alumni Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle and Frankie too!
Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!
She is so geourgus! I liked the Flagline becuase it is light weight and soft, but stong. Brownie could wear it all day if needed. I would take her grith size with and without her coat. I know I had the Xlarge and it was adjustable.
Can't wait to see more clips. Where are you?
My Beautiful Beloved Brownie was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma on February 26, 2019. With all odds against him he lived an additional one year and eight days with amputation, love, and prayer. I was honored to be his mom, and I have never been so proud! He will live forever in my Heart!

Thank you. 🙂
Tomorrow we go to the vet and it will be the first long walk. Normally not long, but now..

This picture is from september. It shows from where we are. 😉
And you can see the tumor on her left leg.
Everything is avout moderation right now. This may be a "long" walk for her at this early part of recovery, but if it can include some "rest" time, even of that just means standing still for a minute or so jist to sniff the air.
You mentioned concern about being avle to walk her on uoir normal routes after she has healed. How long were those walks before....or what was the distance?
If I recall, ripawd Griffin walks a good mile to a mile and a half up to his "park" and then walks and rides in a stroller some on the way back. During the time at the park she plays fetch and enjoys rolling arpund on her back. Griffin is a mich younger fella'.
Dogs really don't care how far or how fast they walk, they just want to be with their hooman and enjoying smelling all the scents of Nature'. With more time as thi gs return to normal, you'll learn to not worry as much, promise!!
Looking forward to your update tomorrow. I know you BOTH will be exhausted!
You're doing better than upi give yourself credit for! We see it! And we see Leyla making improvements too!

Leyla wanted to run to the vet. 🙂 Vet says I can let her run and the wound looks very good, much better than the ones of other dogs. No hämatoms or fluids. The pain is not from the wound but from her back. She has spondylosis which never caused her any problems, but maybe now. I should give her a massage and metacam and CBD-Oil.
The way from home to subway and from subway to the vet and back again is 3 kilometers. Thats enough for today. Now she is tired. 🙂
People on the street and in the train always ask questions about the leg and her eye (she has a corneal opacity which is harmless). Maybe I should write a FAQ-List, print it 1000 times and give it to anyone who ask. Or should I start asking random people about their age and health problems?
I would just say Yes I agree, She is beautiful! I know with Brownie, they would say nothing at all, or "did he get hit by a car" . I think that is always the first thought for some reason.
Happy she is feeling better!

So happy you got a good report and got to walk! I hope that you can see some light at the end of your tunnel now Sounds like all in all was a good day. LOL at the hand out, that is TOO funny

Yes, I try to get slowly back to a normal day. We made 3 short walks today: 4 times up and down the streets in the morning, 2 times in the afternoon and evening. But now I worry about the spondylosis. Although she has strong leg muscles, her hind legs crashed down and she had some difficulties to stand up again.
I'm so sorry. Collapsed how? Did she get back up? How long was she on the floor?
Stay strong. The more details you can share the more we can help with ideas, but be sure to call your vet if this is urgent OK?

She was not long on the floor but it seems her legs would not do what she wants. It remembers me of a very old dog which has not a full control of his legs anymore. As if her body is too much for her to carry. It looks odd and clumsy. I guess its just a question of time when she will have massive problems with her knees and joints.
And what have I won then? Is a dog who can not walk anymore happier than a dog with a bleeding tumor? Today I just could kick myself in the ass for doing the amputation..
The ruffwear Flagline harness has arrived now. It's ok for the summer, but if I had to carry her with this harness, the straps would cut into her side like a bad bra. I really wonder what justifies THAT price. The Julius k9 vest is the same price, but the vest is much better for carrying a dog safely. I can really recommend it if the weather is cool or cold. For summer it would be too warm.
