Kobalt has fully recovered from his amputation from a month or so ago. Right after we got home he started coughing and we thought maybe he picked something up at the vet. He still has all of his normal energy. But we're starting to get concerned. As he coughs (productive but dry coughing) he has started to leave blood tinged spittle. Obviously this is a concern for us as we didn't think his condition would spread this rapidly. (Osteosarcoma). Could he have picked something up or is this a sign/symptom that the cancer is already spreading to his lungs? I can't hear a wheeze when he breathes or anything. Any experiences with this?

Since this happen pretty much right after the surgery, it sounds like it could be related to the tubing they put down their throat during surgery.  It could certainly  also be  kennel cough or something  like that.

His spirits are high and he's doing well and that's  a great sign.

For your own reassurance, and so he can get rid of that annoying hack,  get him to the Vet so he can treat whatever  ks gping kn.  Whatever it is most likely  is causing the blood tinged spittle since the cough has probably irritated  his throat.  It happens with humans too sometimes  with hacking cough left unchecked.

Let us know how the check up goes.  Kennel cough is definitely  treatable.

Woah I was just looking at your blog today and wondering how that sweetie is doing. I'm glad he's otherwise doing pretty well and adapting. He's such a sweetie.

How is his activity level right now? Appetite? If all is good, then don't panic and just know that this could be anything at all. I do agree with Sally. It's hard not to think the worst when you're dealing with cancer, so instead of making yourself crazy with worry, get it checked out sooner rather than later. Please keep us posted OK?

And oh, we would love a photo of your totally smoochable pup!
