Bella is walking. She woke us up at 330a and wanted to go out! She went potty and had some yucky poops. She then FINALLY took her meds and ate a bit of chicken and rice.

She's very unsure of herself but I know it will get better from here. This video was taken just a little bit ago. She was feeling restless but didn't want outside. She's now resting again

Awwww Bella! You are doing this! I knew you could smiley_clap What a relief on so many levels. I love your Believe in Yourself shirt, it's so perfect!

Here's a link to the video. Check it out everypawdy! Facebook's weird about embedding stuff into Forums:

Yep, she looks a little wonky but not necessarily in a bad way. More like she's seeing pink elephants and a little stoned. That's what pain meds should do at this point, to allow her to rest and feel comfortable. I think in time as she gets more used to them, she should be more willing to move around.

**warning for incision pic in this post**

She has not had an accident in the house. She's still eating. When we brought my other dog in from doggie playcare, she hobbled over so fast to see Raven!

She seemed to want to get on the recliner but we told her no. My husband went to see the doggie stairs. "oh, i will try to help, but she might not be strong enough yet". He sits the stairs down. Bella JUMPS, avoiding the stairs and landing in the recliner.. but then faceplanted into the back of the chair. She's not supposed to be jumping. Little weirdo

**the first one is her incision, so click away if you're sensitive to that**

Awwww I love that she's in her favorite spot. She just went for it, like "Stairs? Me? LOL!" Talk about spunky.

Don't you worry about incision photos in this crowd, we've seen it all and it doesn't bother us at all. It's all part of sharing the information and real life experience of going through recovery. Besides, that incision still doesn't take away from her adorable smoochy face that shines through so brightly!

i woke up this morning to my husband gasping audibly. I ask him what's wrong and he says "look behind you". I roll over in bed and there's Bella, happy as a clam in bed with me. Hubby had slept in the living room with her, but at some point in the night she came to be with mama. We really have to monitor her now. She wants to jump on the furniture. We are reinforcing using the dog stairs. She has trouble coming down though. She's doing more exploring outside and her appetite is normal for her.

We are SO PROUD of her!

I always say it's almost impossible  to stop a new tripawd from reclaiming  THIR couch and THEIR side of the bed (which is usually  "your" side).

This is such a great update AND video (thanks for the link Jerry).

We heard from the vet today. They got biopsy results in. As expected, it was a high grade mast cell tumor. The bad part is that it was found in the lymph node they removed. We will see an oncologist. However, I am not sure how much this will all cost or exactly what will be recommended. Someone over the weekend asked me "you know she's a dog, right?" when I mentioned we made a dog PT intake appointment for her (they can't see us until March).

I'm so worried now that she has this cancer everywhere now. I thought taking her leg was going to help. I don't know if I put her through all that just to delay the inevitable?

They also thought Hapoy Hannah had lymph jode spread after they did the biopsy.  She had a great life for one year and two months before heading  to the Rainbow bridge

Sorry for quick reply....running late for work and just sawy your post.

I just... having that tumor removed HAS to count for SOMETHING, right? It can't have been all in vain?

Yes, doing the amputation  counts for a lot!!   We know it's  hard to see during the  recovery phase, but you'll soon see how Happy she is with that bum leg gone. You have given her a chance at a quality life where she can make each moment make a small light chock full of joy and happiness and tummy rubs and snuggles. Remember, that pass report hasn't changed a thing in Bella's world.

I know it's hard not to think the worst case scenario, but if it is in the lymph node, that doesn't mean it's the end of the road that any means. Bella is a strong and fit Girl with her own genetic makeup and her own custom-designed immune system that is not taken Into consideration as far as in a prognosis, Etc. When you speak with the aanco you can get all your questions answered and develop a plan forward. Right now you haven't had a chance 2 get information from the professionals who deal with this type of thing all the time. My mind is a little blank right now but I know we have had many members who have had activity in the lymph nodes and continued to thrive for a long time. And again, I think once you can get this recovery behind you you will see that what you have done out of love for Bella is not in pain in any way shape or form. You gave her a chance, and you are continuing to give her a chance. She would expect that from you and she knew you loved her enough to do this.

PS. As far as the comment made by your friends I really, really feel sorry for them. To go through life without knowing the depth of a bond that you can have with a dog it's a life and complete as far as I'm concerned. Sadly there are some who will never know that type of love. We Are The Lucky Ones. Even  through the challenges and the bad times, we would do it all over again because we understand the love and the life lessons are dogs teach us. Yes, they make us whole.

What you have done for her so far counts for a lot and isn't in vain. MCT can be a very treatable condition so please don't panic until you talk to the oncologist and get the information you need. Sometimes those path reports can cause so much stress to pet parents if they aren't given to them without all the info they need. So talk to the experts don't jump to any conclusions and remember Dr Google is not your friend right now.

Smooch your sweet girl and cuddle up. And tell your friend they should keep their negative attitude to themselves. Sorry you had to hear that comment.!Grrr
