Soooo glad that things are going so much better for Bailey! Whew! Big sigh of relief!! And glad that foot is all better too! Compared to al her previous challenges, this is a piece of cake!

Soooooo glad Bailey is done with chemo!!!clapclapclap And look at how much better she is feeling! She's "being her silly self"! OMD!! Did you ever think you would see her happy again and getting her appetite back!,

I love how she has trained you to get her to eat her food! Whatever works, right!? And teaching you to get the angle just right so she can finish it!! I love this dog!!

For me, o ce my Hapoy Hannah completed her FOUR rounds of Carboplatin, I no longer did xrays! As Jerry said, it would not have made a differenceas far as treatment because I had already decided I would not pursue anything else that would require her going back and forth to the vet, gettng poked and prodded and stuck with needles. While she never minded going to the vet, she was starting to show a little more reluctance gettingnin the car and then getting out when we got to the vets.

Another HUGE reason for me not doing anymore xrays was I knew, if it was not good news, it could hinder my abikity t stay in the moment with her...to stay in the present and to keep my energy positive and worry free! If I may...I think Bailey's well being would be far better served by the two of you just getting on with enjoying life worry free!! I merely told myself she didn't have mets and proceeded forward withnthe most glorious time imagineable with my Happy Hannah!big-grin

I hope others will chime in because I know so many others have decicded against xrays too once the chemo was done. Again, a persnal decision and one that you have to factor how you would "reaact" energy wise and stress wise if they did show mets Would your internal stress spill over onto Bailey and compromise your time together.?

Nw, that said, much, much later when sysmptons did start appearing and eventually started "potentiallly" compromising her quality, I did proceed with xrays at that time simply because if there were mets at that stage, then I coul put her on steroids and a few other things to continue to keep her comfortable and a good quality.

Hey! We haven't had a recent video or photo of Bailey! Would love to see how she has trained you tohld her food bowl for her! Spoiling our dogs is so much fun!!

Sending you love and peace and slobbery kisses from Bailey!

Sally and Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle too!

Well... this Thursday would be Bailey's 6th round of chemo and I'm not doing it.

Bailey's foot had to be looked at again because she wouldn't leave it alone so she has been on cephelixn (spelled wrong I'm sure.)  Well foot looks 100% better but we are finishing out the antibiotics... 2 at 3x daily seems to work this time.

FOOD... SHE IS A LITTLE SHIT.... she stopped eating again and will eat yogurt and peanut butter on a dog treat... no kibble or any cooked human food...  I don't get it.  I don't yell at her or make her eat she's the love of my life and I will do whatever it takes.

I'm wondering if I should take her Thursday and have her x-rayed because she keeps licking her amp location and she's licking one certain spot and it's a crease.  My husband noticed a scab and he's wondering if there's a staple there?  Uggh

I just read about a dane on here it was a right side post where her dane became septic.  But Bailey doesn't have any swelling... every now and then it will puff up but not like a knot of anything...

Bailey's amp area is also always cold and sensitive to touch is this normal?  Anyone?

Ohhh and husband fractured his leg right below his knee....so sorry Bailey comes first!  winker

Here's why her incision licking scares me and he swelling now and then but it's floaty not hard and goes away... I think it's when she plays when she feels good is when it swells...

Rio's 3 month post-op ups and DOWNS!

FIRST WE HAVE APPLAUSE COMING YOUR WAY!

NO MORE.CHEMO. YAAAAAAAAY! FOOT IS HEALED. YAAAAAAAAAAY. BAILEY COMES BEFORE HUBBY YAAAAAAAAYway-cool

The antibiotics certainly could be playing havoc on the tummy and her not wanting to eat. I'M NO VET but that could be the issue. Aske the vet if he can give you someting or if she still needs to take them Can't really remember if Happy Hannah site was cool or not....vessels, nerves, etc are all re~routed so.may be coller....anyway, ask your vet..and ask about the off and on swelling. Don`t think that`s a cause for alarm at al all though.... Not sure why she`s licking that one spot...go ahead and have them check it for YOUR peace of.mind! If that vet EVEN MENTIONS THE WORD CHEMO......RUN AND NEVER GO BACK THERE.AGAIN!!!!!! OOPS...stepped.out of.line a.little bit!clap

COME ON BAILEY....EAAAAAAT! Everything.is going so well..........got to eat! TRY STEAK.....seriously...bet she,ll eat it!

Cheering for you always!

Sally.and Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle too!

Ps....sorry about hubby

Is there a fever? Ty got VERY lethargic and quiet when he had his infection. I kept track of his temp at home. He had very hard swelling and discoloration. I am talking like a soccer ball at its worst. His fever ran between 103 and got as high as 105. Fever would be a big red flag for infection. That having been said, something may very well be in there bugging her. Maybe a piece of internal suture or something. May be itchy also and that is why she is licking it. If you have any concerns, don't be afraid to call your vet. It is also very normal to worry and look for signs that something is wrong. Also have you tried scrambled eggs? They were a hit here when nothing else seemed to taste good. I also fed him from a plate and took it to his bed. Keep us posted on how she is doing. Lori and Ty

Hi Guys!

Miss. Bailey seems depressed... trying everything.  She has a real separation whine when I leave, she never had this before.  I do not work so I'm not home very long.  She has the appointment Thursday and the oncologist tech said unless I thought she needed to be looked at right away they will address it on Thursday... You know after all the money (and I'm not complaining I would have to refer people to Sue's (Charlie) vet in the St. Louis Dr. Buss.  This feeling of I don't give a shit or your only a number drives me insane...

I stopped the antibiotic yesterday because her foot is clear and I called the regular vet and he said 10 days well I think it's been long enough.

I am going to ask about her incision site being sensitive to touch and always feels cool unlike her body temp.

As s eating...  she did eat a little pumpkin with whole yogurt (vanilla) with no artificial junk in it... that's all... I'm trying to keep track of her drinking so she's not getting dehydrated.

I will knock on wood on this one but we have o fever but she just has that look in her eye that I feel like crap.  I know, I know... quit looking for things... we have tried steak (rib roast), chicken (I think she is tired of it), hamburger... and we keep taking back bags of dog food I think we have tried every brand of the Wilderness of Blue Buffalo Grain Free... Anyone tried Halo?

Jerry, I need to read you prescription for healthy eating... I get caught up in this web site and then I'll read something sad and I have to go cry.  I love you guys.

Happy Tails.

Love, Tracy and Bailey

P.S. I'm going to post a video... someone needs to make these on here and sell them... I'm not a computer wiz but would love to have a video of both my dogs but not with the same title!  :)

TRACY! AND BAILEY TOO!

Yeah, I saw that Duke video the other day and wouldn't be able to take it a second time. And you're exactly right, this site can be THE saddest place on earth sometimes. Those of us who have had our furbabies transition, re·live our loss all over and then FEEL the despair and torment of the ones who are just now experiencing it.

But we also have wonderful moments of joy too! And knowing Bailey has NO temperature.is really good news! Knowing she is over her incontinence is really good news!

And, even in the middle of your anxiety over Bailey's recovery, you still have your sense of humor.
! And that's good news too! Yeah, the place I went to in Richmond very much had the "number" mentality...and, sorry to say, but maybe a little bit."money mentality" too.

Question.....all the "side effects" of the chem o are gone except the not eating? (not saying that's even a side effect to begin with) Did the vet who said it was ok to take her off the antibiotics suggest anything for her tummy? Does she act nauseous when she sees food? Turn her head away...lick her lips as joe the thought of food makes your sick? Is her stomach making gurgling noises? Pooping and peeing okay?

As far as sensitivity on the site........my Happy Hannah did not lay on her site side for five weeks...that's when I knew it was no longer painful. Has Bailey tried to avoid that side?

Okay....a none of my business questio...BUT....why are you going back to that Onco? Could y o u have her surgeon look at her incision, or even her regular vet?
AND, mzybe your regular vet could give her something to stimulate her appetite and settle her tummy!!!!!!

Okay, it was dear sweet Elizabeth, Jake and Tanner's mom, who did theslide show video for me. She snuck into my photobucket account and put it together from there. So I do know you have to have them on a site like that thing first. I wish I could help you...I'm a zero brain with that stuff! JUST KEEP TAKING PICTURES!! WE'LL FIGURE SOMETHING OUT!

Sending love and healing energy

Sally and Happy Hannah and Myrtle

Have you done so.com ething fun with her that she really likes? Maybe going to a drive through or have a friend come over.

In the meantime ......I think someone needs a boat load of chocolate!

Sally, Happy Hannah and Myrtle!

Love you guys to the moon and back!

Bailey has the appointment Thurs that I never canceled... I didn't want them to take it away from me....

We are not doing any of the crap anymore.  But I wish she would just eat(grain free ) ... she really seems depressed... nothing has changed...

OK now get this tonight I just did the Pro Plan Shreds Lamb and Rice that her sister is on and has been on since we switched from Diamond... she loves it and she's 10 I'm not changing it...

BUTTTTTT tonight I gave her two cups of sissy's food and two cups of the Blue Buffalo - Salmon Grain Free... (side by side in her raised feeder where her water would be) she nosed them out first then I pushed them both back in... stood in my bathroom with the water running and she was actually peaking at me to see if I was watching her... well it's our master bath and we have that long double sink mirror... welllllllll SHE ATE SISSY'S FOOD!

This is what she was eating before her amp. and chemo..... but it's not grain free

SO NOW WHAT??? I hear everything about they need to be on GRAIN FREE HIGH QUALITY DOG FOOD....

SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

and she won't eat fast food like McDonalds anymore... I think she relates that to chemo.... she hates ice cream turns her head like what is this sh_t!!!   I know right!!!

WELP LOOKING FOR UMMMMMM well you know.

P.S. Sally she lays on her amp site pretty much but when you go to touch it or massage it she flinches.

OK  this is my story for tonight!

HUGS,

Tracy and Bailey

AND WE LOVE YOU AND BAILEY TOO!!!!!!!!!!!!

I AM SOOOOOOOO HAPPY SHE ATE!! SOOOOOO HAPPY!!!! The visual you painted of her snubbing her food....then waiting til you left the room! OMD
clownlaughing Bailey is back!!!!!!!!

Sissy, sorry about Bailey eating your food, but it's a "necessity" right now!

For now Tracy, and just my 2 cents worth, I would give her anyting that even resembles nutrition if she will eat it!! And yeah, "today" they're saying "grain free ", and tomorrow they'll be saying "feed your dogs chocolate three times a day"! Okay...maybe not that! Right now she needs to get her strength back. She will get her nutrion through the Pro Plan and a bit of grain won't hurt her at all right now.

I'M JUST THRILLED!! Maybe it's, in part anyway, the antibiodics messing with her tummy. Looks like you'll be taking alot of baths and looking at her through your mirror!

LOVE TO YOU AND BAILEY AND SISSY TOO!

OH! Don't forget to set out a bow place for your husband....he does have a broken leg ya' know!winker Granted, it's not an amputation!

I agree with Sally, grain free or not, super premium or alpo, whatever she is willing to eat, get her to eat. That's the most important thing.

You're tackling a lot of issues all at once and this can be so overwhelming. How about focusing on the biggest one, the eating, and trying to set aside the others for a bit (her sensitivity at the incision site), until you get that one handled. Having one victory under your belt will make you feel so much better, and her too.

Sally, I knew what you meant.  My posts are getting pretty bad with the spelling....I'm just saying my keys stick and the internet is slow!laughing

Jerry, I know and I know that's with happy I knows.  My daughter and husband says the same think quit thinking about everything, you're looking and trying to reason out is it an infection, did they leave a staple in etc...  I know it's me I have always been like that.  I worked 23 years in a law firm as a paralegal and I was trained well to dig deep... you will find what you are looking for.  I over analyze everything.  Bailey is my main focus, I'm mentally wrapped around her... go to Florida and have a house sitter... hell no...  just can't right now...  I get sick to my stomach when I leave the house... I'm a wacko go ahead and say it... but say it nicely.  Thank you!  big-blink

I have 10 year old harlequin named Bella who head butts me so hard when I ignore her and I think someone up above is telling her to do that!

I am trying to figure out the picture thing from my Iphone... Jerry?  I have some cute ones on the deck in the SUNSHINE!  It's unseasonable cool here but not complaining... tonight low 50's.  Seems fallish!

OK, I will go on for now, Jerry if this needs to be somewhere just pm me and tell me, I will surely understand.

Thank you friends!

With love and sloppy kisses (I stole that from Sally)

Tracy you are not a wacko, you are concerned and you love your pupperz so much, we all understand that. If that makes us crazy too then welcome to the loony bin clownKeep sharing her updates here, this is a good place to monitor Bailey's progress.

As for pics from the phone, you have to upload them to somewhere like Facebook, Flick'r, Photobucket, etc, before sharing here. Once you have them uploaded you can paste the URL of the photo here:

  •     right click on the picture you want to share
  •     select "copy image location" from the menu
  •     return here to the Forums, reply to this topic to open your post editing box.
  •     paste the URL you just copied into your Forum post.

Hope that makes sense. Let me know.

Jerry,

I will do that with the pictures... I did understand what you meant... and I'm not even a IT person.aw-shucks

OK, I have another question.  I wanted to set up a blog or is that not necessary just to document Bailey's journey... but I couldn't figure it out...  sleepy

SOOOOOOOO, the food thing is still an issue but I did go back to PetSmart and bought the last bag that we haven't tried of Blue Buffalo Wilderness... did the taste test today... and guess what won out again...

PROPLAN LAMB AND RICE... so should I be worried? I never heard of grain free until her cancer that grain free is considered a cancer diet... I guess I just felt the Lamb and Rice was good food.  I guess I was in the blind category.  But when Bella was little she had many problems with the #2 issues at the very start of 8 weeks and Lamb and Rice is all that worked (by Diamond) and due to the recalls we switched to ProPlan Lamb and Rice and they love it.  So when Bailey became in our life we followed the same path with no problems.  But Bailey wants nothing to do with high protein foods it seems.  I did go on the dog food Best Dry Grain Free Dog Food and did a comparison for ingredients and it seems that ProPlan Lamb and Rice is a 3 star not a 5 star... It does have a lot of comparable things in it...

Soooo is there another line we should try?  I KNOW>>>>>> just say it..... TRACY!

(((((HUGS)))))

Tracy and Bailey

P.S. Tomorrow is the day we are going back just to have a chat with the oncologist.  Has anyone had problems with K9-Immunity Plus?

If one wasn't a "worry wart" before...there's a high probability one will become a Wacko Worry Wart on this journey! So we've got AARP. TRIPLE AAA and AA and now we have http://WWW...by invitation only!

As far as K9 Immunity I can only tell you my beautiful Happy Hannah liked the chews and thought of them as a treat. I do believe it helped her energy level a touch.

I would definitely keep her on Pro Plan for now.. She needs to get her strength back. Three stars...not bad. I bet once she gets her strength back she won't mind swithing. Oh, you might try EVO. Canned or Merrick canned..the grain free as a topper.

BLOG?????? Nope, not for everyone, especially if you're lacking in computer brain cells....when goD passed those cells out, he obviously skipped me and gave all mine to the Admin. Guy! way-cool

WE LOVE YOU AND BAILEY....AND BUTTING BELLA TOO!

Sally and Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle too!

WAIT!!!!! We have something to celebrate! BAILEY ATE AGAIN, RIGHT!!?? TWO FULL MEALS TWO DAYS IN A ROW?????? WOOF!!! WOOF!!!clap
