New here:

Nero -14 year old male - removal of rear leg due to injury.

Surgery is tomorrow. Are there any helpful tips for when he comes home the next day? Anything we should get ready for him before he comes home? What are the best ways of confining a cat to limit injuring himself?

Should I invest in a ramp?

Thank you.

Hi Nero & family, welcome to the club nopawdy wants to join. I saw you were in the Tripawds Chat Room but didn't say anything. Chime in anytime OK?

So it sounds like Nero is a rear-legged Tripawd cat, correct?

Have you seen our TriKitty Bloggers? They share so much good advice there about feline Tripawd recoveries. I know our TriKitty Experts like Mona and Kerren will chime in soon with their insights about recovery. As a dog-family what I can tell you is this: whatever energy you put out there, Nero will reflect right back to you. Project pawsitivity, and he will too. Sure, you'll need to keep him confined to a recovery room to keep him safe while he mends, but soon you'll be surprised at how well he does. Most cats won't need a ramp, in fact Nero probably won't use it even if you had one. Maybe he will because he's older, but it's a toss-up. He will figure things out so quickly.

Keep us posted tomorrow OK? We'll be thinking of you.
