Blood test for early cancer detection in dogs

This morning I discovered this new early detection blood test called OncoK9 to pre-screen dogs for cancer of many types - it appears that it can be administered by any vet if they are willing to order it. The hope is that with regular screening cancer can be detected early so that there is more time and more options to consider for treatment - and hopefully a better outcome as a result.

I discovered this test in a talk by the Morris Animal Foundation and I'll include the 15min clip below. FYI - during the Q&A they did say that depending on the individual vet's mark-up the test runs about $4-500.

Thanks for sharing Natalie! I meant to watch this when I heard about the webinar so I'm glad you posted.

I listened to this interview and read about the test.  Honestly, I’m surprised the vet we use has never mentioned it.  He knows we spare no expense on our dogs and they use one of the labs that should offer the test.   I plan to mention it the next time we are there.
