Hey guys, I dunno if this has been posted anywhere but I saw it on fb and thought it was worth a post here. Just an informational article about how CSU helps prep its pawrents on amping with videos. Links to the videos are embedded in the article. Hope this is helpful to someone

Great article but sigh. It starts:

Jill is a 9-year-old tuxedo kitty. She was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma in June 2012 on her toe in her right hind leg. Her leg was amputated on 12/12/12 and she completed four rounds of chemo (2 of Carbo, 2 of Doxy) in April 2013. ). We were all lucky enough to find this place, but there are probably so many more that are coping on their own. These videos would be great for all vet offices.

Spirit Shooter was a Miniature Australian Shepherd who was diagnosed with a MCT and had a LF amp 1/28/13 at 13-1/2 years old.
Shooter crossed the Bridge on 8/28/13, his 7 month ampuversary and two weeks from his 14th birthday.
Good basic video. They didn't show the blood boob (I have no idea why that still freaks me out) and they used a rear amp dog model... I think that a font amp would have been more beneficial (or make a separate front amp video) because the change to a rear amp dog is not that significant. They have a fairly normal gait and few issues getting up/down.
A front amp might have been a little more 'scary' as the gait changes dramatically and getting up down is a much more involved process.
But good video.

Oh this is great! I just learned about the videos and wanted to check this all out, thank you for sharing.
I was told by a CSU onco that they are always referring folks to this community, that is such an honor coming from them.
Yes, a front-legger in the video would be good for future videos. tjm, yes, front-leggers do have more going on as far as gait changes and potential mobility issues, especially with the carpus (wrist) joint. However based on our experience both front and rear-leggers each have their own unique challenges, some more, some less. It all depends on the breed type and the dog's existing conditions. For example, our Wyatt is a German Shepherd with hip displaysia. Losing a rear leg will greatly affect him as he ages. He doesn't have the Tripawd-bunny hop but being a Tri presents different types of challenges for him.
All in all though, this is great to see CSU putting this information out there!
