There are two pups at Chicago Animal Care and Control (CACC) that may be of interest to this amazing community - Trike and Nubs. Trike (A183118) is a 5 year old male who is reported to be housebroken, and Nubs (A183166) is a 2 year old male who still has all 4 legs but a missing/deformed paw. More info can be found in the links below. If you can foster or are interested in adopting, please follow-up on the CACC Dog Transfer Team facebook page or let me know. CACC has been over capacity pretty much all of this year, and it would be amazing if we can help get Trike and Nubs to safety!

OM Freaking Dog, you just stole my heart.. twice. They are just amazing dogs, I wish I could take either of them.. sheesh. I knew I shouldn't have looked. I hope they find good homes. Dang.. if I know of anybody looking that is a responsible pet owner I will share this with them. I wonder if Nub's paw will need surgery or if his paw is ok the way it is? Almost looks like he was born with it that way. They are both heart breakers and I am a total pittie fool..

I hope so too! I was wondering the same about Nubs. One of the facebook comments said it looks like a birth defect, but he's also a bit chunky so I wonder if he might get around better with surgery. Anyway, I think finding a foster is the immediate priority so please spread the word to those who might be able to provide a home, even if it's not a forever one!
I will, oh boy they each melted my black old heart in their own ways, lol. I keep telling myself we have enough to handle, and I know I am right. They look like really sweet pups. I hope they get homes soon.

You are so sweet for posting here to get the word out. Thank you for thinking of us here! You've made your sweet angel Crystal very proud.
I'm on a really slow internet connection so I wasn't able to put the dogs' photos here so if someone wants to do that, we can help share this around throughout social media.

No updates unfortunately. Sadly, there’s now a third tripawd there now too - Troop. He came in with a bad leg injury and they recently amputated. All three pups really need a foster or adopter. My understanding is that pledges to donate money for a specific dog or dogs on Facebook can help incentivize rescue groups to pull the dog from CACC. So I guess that’s one way we can help even from afar. The mayor of Chicago just fired the CACC director, which has been highly controversial because the shelter community seems to think she was doing a great job and their euthanasia rate hit all time low. Hopefully this is just unnecessary nervousness but word on the street is that all of this turmoil makes the future for the dogs uncertain especially as CACC is an open admission shelter that euthanizes.
I’m on my phone right now but I’ll post pictures of Troop soon to help spread the word about him too.
