With the recent upgrade to these forums, the Private Messaging system was overhauled which may have resulted in the loss of any previous messages in user inboxes. We are working with developers to see if these messages can be restored, but they may be lost forever. We apologize for any inconvenience.

We are also currently working on making the forums more user friendly on mobile devices. You may notice a different theme depending on whether you visit the forums from your desktop, tablet or phone. Currently (as of this post date) the rich text (TinyMCE) editor will be available on tablets, while the plain text editor must be used on phones. All feedback is welcome, please be sure to indicate your device and describe in detail the theme you are seeing and any related issues. Screenshots preferred.

Thank you for your patience and continued support while we work to make using Tripawds a better experience for all.

Okay....feedbacke from an Acer Iconia Anroid Tablet.......not able to get the little "correction blinking bar" to show up properly

On this tablet if you want to correct a letter.....you tap the letter, the linking bar shows up with a BLUE "sort of arrow" under it...then the keyboard appears and you type your correction.............most the times ow......and this has just been since the changes......I can only get the bar to show up rarely..and even more rarely to get the keyboard up

Re  Edit...Same thing as above...when tapping where I wanted to make correction......couldn't get bar and/or keyoard

Now, to be clear.....the blinking bar rarely showed up where you tapped it anyway, but it showed up within "close enough proximity" that you could backspace over word to get to the place you wanted to correct.

What's scarey is how hard my posts are to read WITH correctins.....can you imagine without any??

THANK YOU FOR ALL THE TIME AND TROUBLE TO MAKE THIS WORK BETTER WITH TABLETS!!     I know in my case, the user is still a huge problem regardless

ALL this could be copletely unrelated.....but it disn't happen til the changes

Re PM...As of last night I couldn't get the keyboard to show up on PM.....haven't tried today

Thanks for the feedback. Can't help but think the issues you describe are device related, but we will pass them along to the developers. If/when we get similar feedback from other tablet users, we will revert to the previous mobile theme tablet users (currently being served up for phones).

I don't know if you've answered this elsewhere, though I looked and did not find it, but please excuse me if you have. The last few days the forum posts widgets on the home page are not showing any details, just some language about the site. Is that related to any of these upgrades? Will the little updates about the posts return?

Thanks for bringing that to our attention! Not sure it's related, but we'll look into a fix ASAP. Any idea when you first noticed this?

I believe this is day 4 that I noticed. I think I've visited the site daily for the last 5 or so days, so that's probably about right.

Well that's just too much of a coincidence to rule out the recent update being the cause. Regardless, we have fixed the issue and are now using new template tags to display recent posts in the sidebar throughout the Tripawds News blog.

Thanks again for pointing this out!

Hey boss,

I was on my iPad this afternoon and noticed the cool + signs in the forum topics that let you see the last several posts.  But not all have them and I'm wondering why?  I thought maybe it was if there were no posts for days or weeks, but the ones at the top had been updated recently.  See screen shot.

Also- I tried to write a post from my iPad (2) just now and could not.  I wasn't on last night, but the night before (when you were testing) with the iPad and wasn't having trouble in chat, but can't remember for sure if I tried to post.  This problem happened before when you were changing the mobile settings I think.  I can type about a sentence, but each key stroke is really slow.  Then I can't add letters, only delete them.  Here is a thread talking about the same issue I think, from March.

I'm having trouble on my ipad also. It's working right now, but a few minutes ago I couldn't type anything into a reply, although I was able to write it in notes and then  copy/paste into a reply.

Thanks for the feedback. We have temporarily disabled the TinyMCE (Rich Text) editor for tablets. TinyMCE is know to have certain incompatibility with mobile browsers so this is likely the cause of posting issues. Only the plain text editor will now be available for all mobile devices. if problems persist, we will revert to the "Stacked" theme which is currently being served up for phone browsers.

The "Unified" theme we are testing for tablets is in still in beta and lacks thorough documentation, so were treading in uncharted waters there. If anypawdy wants to send us an iPad, we'd be happy to help troubleshoot this in greater detail. big-blink

Unfortunately, all old private messages are lost and cannot be restored. We also had to empty inboxes once again to sync pm threads, messages, and recipients. Going forward, Private Messaging should function properly albeit with a new interface. Old messages will still be deleted after 120 days.
