NOTE: As of today’s Forums upgrade, we have re-enabled the Rich Text (TinyMCE) editor as the default post editor for tablet devices. This will allow use of the editing buttons for easily adding photos, links, and formatting to forum posts. Mobile phones are still being served the plain text editor.

We have tested TinyMCE on an iPad and are comfortable with the functionality, but welcome feedback from any other tablet users. Please provide detailed information about any issues you may experience using these forums on a tablet.

How To Change Default Editor

Follow these steps if you would like to change your default editor back to the plain text editor, or back to the TinyMCE if applicable.

  1. Click your Profile button at top right of any Forums page.
  2. Click the Options tab.
  3. Click Edit posting Options.
  4. Select Preferred Editor
  5. Click Update Posting Options

Any questions or feedback?

Thanks for the scoop, Admin Guy, and thanks for everything you do behind the scenes. I know it’s a lot more work than many people realize.

Not sure if it’s a coincidence or not but my tablet keys now seem really ‘sticky’ — like there’s a delayed response. Is anyone else having similar issues? I’m on an older iPad btw.

Oh no, Sally; I thought you were being funny in that post. Might need to change back to plain text.

Thank you for the feedback! The Rich Text editor seems to clearly still be having issues on certain tablets.

Anypawdy else have issues to report?

Before we reset the default again, please try reverting to the plain Text editor following the steps is the first post above and let us know if that works as expected.

Sorry for the inconvenience and Thanks!

Ohhhhh you computer people are such great fun!!!!!! clown
What I wouldn’t give for a “barrel of monkeys laughing” icon!

Okay, I’m laughing my butt of NOW…..but it sure was freaking me out last night!!! F R E A K I N G!!!!mad

Now you gotta remember who you’re dealing with on this end…no comprendo ANYTHING about computers! It was craaaaaaazy!! Come home from :-) wprk…it’s late at night….and some strange entity has gotten jnto my computer and taken over the keyboard!little-devil
Im looking all around the room to check for spam infiltration…get my guns out…have the phone by my side ready to call 911 at the first hint of one of these aliens popping out of my com o uter and trying to take Myrtle and myself up into their spaceship!!!

And all this happened while I was trying to respond to Deb/Lexie about cannabis for dogs…….hmmmmmm…….

I DID ike how, in between tying gibberish all on its own….it “slanted” the print. (Italicized I guess?)…..I wondered how people did that…and I could see from those iconsnthat mysteriously showed up, you could make things bold, etc.

THANKS….SERIOUSLY……FOR TRYING TO MAKE THINGS WORK FOR TABLET PEOPLE!!!!!! REALLY!!!!!!

sguH dna evoL!!!

Hmm… since that was rather intelligible, can we presume you have successfully changed your options to use the Plain Text editor? Everything working OK now?

Does anybody else have feedback regarding the editor on tablets???

Just confirming TinyMCE editor use on iPad4… Little slow, but worth the benefit of having edit tools. But that is just one opinion. What do others think?

YES! Everything is back to “normal” (and I use the term loosely) once I did like you said….went to profile and clicked on plain text. Waa Hoooo!

Indeed… way-cool we’ll keep the TinyMCE editor available for tablet users then, until we hear further reason to disable it.

Thanks for the feedback!
