Jenna (ChiliDawg) informed me that she couldn't post a comment on my blog so I investigated. I found 5 comments from registered users in my spam filter. Three of them were from Jenna. The others were from Toby Boy and Butchey Hudson's mom (doggiemomma9).

Any idea why they'd be trapped in there? I've looked at my settings again and can't find anything that would suddenly restrict comments from people who've successfully commented before. And I deliberately have my settings turned to "liberal" (or thought I did) because I'd rather delete a spam comment than have a legitimate one trapped...but that's what has happened anyway.

If it helps, the comments were from a range of dates starting within the last few weeks. What other info can I give you to help?

Fighting Spam is an ongoing challenge for all bloggers, especially us network administrators.

There could be a number of reasons why comments get spammed, regardless of your individual blog's settings. If a comment has ever been spammed by a user on any Tripawds blog, for whatever reason, future comments from the same user are likely to get spammed on other Tripawds blogs as well.

Reasons for a comment getting spammed can range from link(s) included in a comment to the user's IP address. Trying to determine why may be a futile battle.

As a Tripawds Supporter blog , your site has the added anti-spam protection of the WP-SpamFree plugin in addition to Akismet which protects all Tripawds blogs . Based on your comments, we've gone ahead and deactivated WP-SpamFree on your blog, hopefully this will help. (You can reactivate it anytime from your Plugins menu.) But as I said, once spammed, a user is likely to be spammed again. Akismet is aggressive that way.

The best practice may be to check the Spam tab on your Comments page periodically.

Hope this helps! Sorry for any inconvenience.

Thanks, Jim. I will certainly pay more attention to the spam tab on my blog.

The bummer is that sometimes people comment weeks after a post, long after I'm going to the blog itself to look for anything. I found it odd and didn't know if it was something I should be doing differently. In the great scheme of things, it is of less importance than almost everything else. I'll see how things go with the disabling. If it gets crazy, I know what to do. Thank you.

The blogs are particularly problematic for me.  I almost can never post a comment, so I don't even try anymore. Each and every time I log in I have a different IP address, and they are from a wireless network so sometime they aren't even from my area. Nothing I can do about it, just life in the abyss.
