That is a good idea Paula. Do we need to have a permit for the walk?

have you registered for the walk yet? I think that is the permit, but I could be wrong. Maybe Christine knows

Nitro 11 1/2 yr old Doberman; right front amp June 2014. Had 6 doses carboplatin, followed by metronomic therapy. Rocked it on 3 legs for over 3 years! I'm up for anything - just tell us where to be! We're pretty easy. This is Murphy's first time traveling anyplace, so he'll stay on leash wherever we go, just to be safe. I doubt that he's go anywhere, but you never know!

You don't have to register for the walk - it's not like they will be counting heads (human or furry) but I think PuppyUp would like it if we all registered, just so they have a more accurate count of how many people come. And, if you register, you get to create a webpage with a picture of your Tripawd or Angel. In terms of fundraising, our team has already raised quite a lot, so I wouldn't feel any shame in registering as a member of the team, but not fundraising. It might be a nice message for others if we are all registered, in terms of seeing our Tripawd community presence too.
No idea about this park for the night before - I've actually never been there before.
Otis - 106 pound lab/Dane mix, lost his right front leg to osteosarcoma on Febuary 9, 2016. Four rounds of carboplatin completed in April, 2016. Lung mets August 25, 2016. Said goodbye too soon on September 4, 2016. Lost his adopted sister, Tess, suddenly on October 9, 2016. likely due to hemangiosarcoma.

Ive been to the greene valley dog park before with Chuck. Its pretty nice and not very busy. Its maybe a 10/15 min drive from the hotel. The permit info says it is open until an hour after dark. Of you google green valley forest preserve in naperville, Illinois then search dog park in the forest preserve website, you'll find the form.
So, in my research I found a Lisle Park District website, and there was a couple of names that I could email, so I did I received an email back from the superintendent of the parks. I told him that we would be there for the walk in Wheaton, that we would have our dog with us, we were staying at the Sheraton, and did he have any suggestions for a dog-friendly park we could meet up on Friday evening with some other people who would also be driving in for the walk. This is what he wrote back:
Good Morning-
All of our parks are “dog friendly” here in Lisle. That being said, we don’t have an actual dog park. We do have a leash ordinance here in Lisle, and it is enforced. If you are in the park without the leash, more than likely the neighbors will confront you first, and then call the police if you don’t comply. We approach patrons ourselves with the same request.
Being that you are at the Sheraton, two parks that would probably work well would be Arboretum Woods Park at 4281 White Birch Drive. It is very open and we do have dog waste bags there as well. The second park that might work really well is our Leask Lane Park. It is located at 4 S 281 Leask Lane. It does not have a park sign, but if you turn on Leask Lane from Warrenville road going north, it is the first driveway on the right. It is over 4 acres and undeveloped land at this point, and would make a great place for the dogs to play.
Please call or email if you have any more questions or if I can be of service.
Thanks-
Aaron Cerutti

Both of those parks look like they are close. It doesn't look like there are any facilities at the Leask Lane Park, but I could be wrong. This is one description of the Arboretum Woods Park: "The Arboretum Woods are an extension of Lisle's Morton Arboretum -- visually and literally. The park is located on the west side of Route 53 along Warrenville Road.; Blacktopped paths lead to a pond and its corresponding walking path. Visitors can stroll around the water, rest on a waterside bench or peek through the fence at the arboretum grounds to the north."
On the parks page, it looks like there is another park nearby, Beau Bien Park, that also has picnic shelters.
They are all neighborhood parks, so no park entrance fees. All of them are nearby the hotel, and should be easy to get to.

Finally heard back from the walk organizers, and yes, PuupyUp logo merchandise will be available for purchase at the walk!
I also have a name and address for donations made by check. They will be collected day of the walk, but send me a PM if you want to mail them in.

Any of those parks sound good Donna. Do we just want to decide on one then get it on the FB page? I know there are some members that don't come to the forums that often that live in that area and they would like to meet up with everyone too. So everyone what do you think??? It's getting closer 🙂 I can't wait to meet everyone.

I probably won't make it Friday night. My daughter has her senior pictures at 6. Unless it is really fast (which it should not be), by the time I drove out that way, I would probably miss you, So, won't vote on the parks (and have never been to either, so can't add there). But, for sure see you at the walk.

Team Tripawds has raised $4035 for the Wheaton PuppyUp walk. When the event organizers heard the story of who we are, they said that they absolutely want to take a picture of our team at the event!
By the way, I am trying to work on a surprise and need a census - for those attending, could you let me know the number (and cat/dog) of members of your furry families, whether they are tripawds or not and whether they are attending of not?

I have 2 fur-kids...one Tripawd (Nitro) and his quadpaw brother (Kodi). I MAY bring Kodi, but it will be a last minute decision .

SWEET! You are all AMAZING!
I've put in a request for a larger booth space since so many Tripawders are attending. Cross yer paws they're able to do it. You are all going to rule the walk!
