SPECTACULAR UPDATES!!!! Peeing, eating, drinking, engaged...yes indeedy, SPECTACULAR UPDATE!!!
Wouldn't worry about the licking . Did she have any injections in that leg, or blood drawn, or shaved for any reason? Sometimes there will be swelling in the remaining leg as fluid starts to settle. No biggie
And yes, cool floors seem to feel good to them,
So glad to hear from you this morning with all these victories.👏
Hugs

Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!
Hi Jamie,
I just wanted to pop in for support and tell you we are in love with your furmily. They are all REGAL OMC! And to say your tattoos are BRILLIANT, you have a talented artist! AMAZING!
I can help here - The best way to post videos is using youtube. Upload the video, make sure it's public or unlisted ( meaning anyone with a link can view) copy the url (shareable link), and come back here and paste the link. I hope that helps.
I wish you and Lyla the best! Love and smooches to your crew, please, and of course, a special smooch to your Lyla!
(((Hugs!)))

What wonderful news! We are so happy for you, and so thankful that you are sharing Lyla's journey because yes, it does help others going through it now and in the future. We can't wait to see the videos (see Purrkins' instructions above and let us know if you'd like help).
The licking could be basic grooming but if she keeps doing it, that could mean that yes she's sore. Try some gentle massage in her neck, shoulder, and back area to see if that helps, or if she responds to a particularly painful area.

LMAO!! Ohhhh yes she can get up on HER couch!!! And that is such a good sign when uou see dogs reclaim their couch👍 And that's a lot of dog to snuggle with on the couch.♥️
Her mobility looks really, really good.
Thanks for the video. Made my day. More please!

Good morning Tripawd family.
Lyla had a good night. She's been sleeping ok. She peed and pooped, she didn't squat to poop though, it just kinda fell out of her. That's normal for Lyla though because she holds it in so long.
She was up twice this morning to pee and drink water. Wanting nothing to do with breakfast but she did take her meds with a slice of turkey and accepted a treat.
She's really tired today, I think she did too much yesterday. I'm just letting her sleep.
My oldest son came home last night and she jumped up to see him and yelped a little. She is getting up on her own when she wants to. Her paw is still pretty swollen so I'm going to call the vet tomorrow and see what I can do to relieve that if possible.
She is still wanting to go up the stairs to the bedroom. I can't wait to let her up there.
In all She's doing well. I'm trying to keep her life as normal as possible so she doesn't feel like she's missing out.
I'll keep you all posted.

Excellent update, yay for pooping and peeing!👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻Lyla is doing fantastic!
Not eating or being fussy is expected on the meds. So give her anything she will eat right now.
Maybe try ice and heat compresses today on her front leg/paw to see if that helps the swelling.
I'm sure you already know this doing less is more right now; potty breaks and up to eat, drink, & resting is best; Purrkins was not supposed to jump up or down either. He jumped in the window the first day home😳 We have to try.
Lyla is showing you she can do life on three being a mammoth dog. I hope you are feeling relief as well.
Our animals are amazing; they are happy to hop on & get on with life! They are the best life teachers!
Hugs & smooches to Lyla, please!

Oh that video of her just made me crack up! She's got that fiesty look back doesn't she? Like "I'm gonna do what I want to do and that's that!"
Her progress sounds really good! Smart move to call your vet about her swollen paw. That's not too unusual, body fluid needs to go somewhere when that leg is removed and most times it just reabsorbs into the body after a while. Let us know what your vet advises.
The recovery phase has a lot of ups and downs as you've seen. But you and Lyla are holding steady throughout and I see even better days just over yonder!

Hi Jerry & Purrkins -
I have already emailed our vet and waiting for a response. I’ve been massaging it and cold compress.
Lyla slept most of the morning and did eat just before noon, then went back to sleeping.
She was sleeping soundly and a friend of my sons who ADORES my crew stopped by and Lyla literally jumped up, tail wagging and was SO excited to see him, just like she would in all fours. I haven’t seen her that excited since she got home. It was amazing to see.
I will keep you posted on the swollen paw. Of note, it’s also the paw she had the intravenous in.

Ah! Your visitor friend is great medicine! That's Lyla coming back. Very cool.
I hope the massage and compresses help. Let us know what the vet says.

Day 4 Update
Lylas paw swelling has subsided.
She is eating well, not her normal amount but she eats morning and night. Her nights are great. No whining or crying. She wakes up in the morning a little stiff but she pees like a champ and has mastered the two steps into the house.
This morning she had a GREAT poop (yes I'm excited about poop!). She has a favorite spot all the way at the back of our property and insisted on hopping all the way there to do her thing.
She gets up on her own now and this morning when I had to drive my son somewhere, got up and went to the dining room window (this is my dogs' thing when I leave).
She is slowly getting back to "normal" and her mobility is incredible. Her will to fight is also incredible. She is a happy dog, albeit a little slower and gets tired quicker.
She is showing me, only 4 days in that she's happy to be alive, even with only 3 legs.
Jamie & Lyla xo
You've got one determined girl there! This is the kind of recovery we all hope for, and we are so hoppy for you both!
And there's every reason in the world to be excited about her first ! It's a big deal around here.
She looks great. Love the Webmaster on her!
P.S. I'm going to stick my nose out a bit here but I'm thinking if you put some traction down on the floor she'll find it even easier to get around. Although some Tripawds appear to get along fine on laminate and wood floors, they're holding their muscles pretty tight to do so. It's like ice skating and can get tiring over time.
