hello -

i just wanted to add another positive story that might be helpful to someone searching for guidance For their beloved pet. Grover is my 10.5 year old Great Dane who was diagnosed with a mid ulnar osteosarcoma. He has arthritis, forelimb angular limb deformities and grade 1-2 ataxia due to wobblers disease. Not a lot in our favor except that he’s “small” (50 kg/110 lb), was active hiking until 5 days pre diagnosis and the worlds toughest dog.

12 hours post amputation he could get up w assistance and move a bit. 36 hours post op he was home and indepdently ambulatory (struggled getting up from amputation side down but “walking”/hoping and getting up on the bed). 5 days post op he was back to his happy self. He started chemo 7 days after surgery and unfortunately at 9 days after surgery was too active and exacerbated his pre-existing cervical spine disease. But 48 hours later we are back to baseline again w plans to take it slower this time.

Nothing about G said “good candidate” for amputation but with our awesome veterinary team including surgeons, neurologists, oncologists and rehab we are grateful for a little more time. I hope that our story will help inspire someone else who is sad, scared and wondering what is best for their friend that dogs exceed expectations, do not read the book and are far more resilient than we can ever imagine.

SPECTACULAR  STORY  OF HOPE😎😎     Yes indeedy, Grover has quickly earned  RockStar status around here!!

Thank you so much for sharing all Grocer's victories!  He's showing everyone  that "agr is just a number" and that there is no such thing as a "bad candidate" for life on three!

This reminds me of another hero Great Dane who had a glorious life on three,  even though TWo Vets ( aybe ecen three) recommended  euthanasia because this LARGE dog wouldn't  be able to handle life in three because not Wobblers.  His hoomans knew Atlas had all he needed within to handle life on three and found a Bet who agreed! He had successful surgery and a delightful  quality of life afterwards.😎

And yes pictures!!  We look forward  to following  Grover on his inspirational Tripawd RockStar Tour!!

Hugs

Sally and Alumni Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle and Frankie too!

Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!

Thank you for the welcome everyone! I am not super technologically savvy but, I did start a blog (I think!) to chronicle our journey (and share photos and videos)... I think that the first blog post should be approved in the next day or so!
